Warm and charming
A big intense floral hit on the nose, but I also get an orange and apricot preserve coming through alongside a blast of vanilla and almond. Arrives on the palate with the texture of melting butterscotch, followed by more of the fruit preserve, but the silky creaminess melts away and leaves popping...
Audry XO Cognac
Tasted from a 5 cl sample from the Audry Discovery Set: Amber color with golden reflexes. The first nosing shows sweet vanilla, pastries, floral and spicy pepper notes (like Szechuan pepper). On the palate this cognac is well-blanced and refined on dried fruits, toffee and roasted nuts with an...
Now I am one of them
I caught a small window where it was offered at a reduced price. Promised as a spicy cognac, I don't think it's nearly as spicy as I imagined. On the contrary, I detect vanilla much more clearly than the expected pepper aroma. Audry is one of the few cognacs where the advertised aromas can be clearly...
Eaux-de-vie That One Can Enjoy on Any Evening.
This cognac constantly scores high in the XO Family Tasting and has been a personal favorite of Sophie and Virginia. I have no doubt why. It is solid performer amongst other XOs, especially in its price range. With spicey notes that is well balanced with a fruit foward taste and a bit of floral...
Audry XO. A Special Cognac.
My favourite cognac from Cognac Expert. With a peppery, spiced nose and hints honey and toffee, this is a beautiful cognac. Those enjoying Audry XO will pick up the fruity palate with dried apricots, allspice and a little oak. I thoroughly recommend Audry XO to all cognac lovers.
My new favorite
I purchased this cognac as recommended by Cognac Experts based on my previous purchases and it has quickly become a favorite in our house. It is refreshing and smooth, easy to drink, and perfect for any occasion. My bottle is frequently tapped and I will be ordering more of this one! Great job!
Created with eaux-de-vie descending from two premium crus, the Grande and Petite Champagne, the Audry XO Cognac is a unique insight into the precious treasures of the Audry Paradis cellar. Created from blends of the original reserve, as an Extra Old Cognac it has been impressively aged between 12 and 30 years. With multiple layers thanks to the finesse of the Fine Champagne, it is something to be savored right to the very end. The Grande and Petite Champagne are particularly celebrated thanks to the unique composition of the soil. Due to thousands of years of fossilization and its particular maritime climate, the soil has a high chalk and limestone content.

Bargain XO
A lovely fresh fruit bouquet greets the nose, along with some subtle nuttiness. As it opens, some mild spice appears. It’s a wonderfully youthful nose, but not young. This is somewhat silky and velvety in the mouth, and is medium bodied. The palate starts rather dry with that fruit, and finishes...
Chainier XO Grande Champagne
Tasted as a part of the Tasting Set No. 1: Decent nose with spicy (vanilla, white pepper) and fruity components mingled with some nice pastry notes. The palate is fresh, light and fruity, some vanilla again together with sweet fruits (pears, pineapples). The finish is short to medium on the same...
Chainier XO GC
Just opened this bottle, and it seems a revelation. There is no sharpness in the throat, it comes from below! Exceptionally charming feeling, it comes up in grades to the nose and palate. Fantastic aromatic XO, exciting flair. On my list ,and I tried a lot of such, it is the best experience so far...
Chainier XO Grande Champagne
Nose: Nice nose here! It smells like there is a lovely alliance between fruit and spice. It does not have the age where a strong oak signature might stick out, and even though twenty years old is anything but young for a Cognac, it does not yet have the maturity to hit the wafty aroma profile like...
This wonderful old Cognac has spent over two decades aging in Limousin oak casks protected by thick cellar walls underneath the House of Chainier. It has been produced exclusively with eaux-de-vie sourced from the Premier Cru, and Chainier XO Grande Champagne Cognac certainly expresses all the complexity and elegance you’d expect from this esteemed region. Aged for significantly longer than what is required by law for an XO designation, this is a great-value product that would delight any Cognac lover.

The oldest in the range from this small artisanal Cognac house is the Ordonneau Vieille Réserve Cognac. A true Borderies treasure, Ordonneau source all of their eaux-de-vie from the smallest cru of the region. A large number of the eaux-de-vie in this blend are aged between 25 and 30 years, making it an Hors d’Age quality blend. Offering great value for money, it is a mature Cognac with incredible versatility.
The Ordonneau Vieille Reserve is produced by the third generation of wine producers from this artisan house. A Unique Borderies Expression
Nose and mouth consistent with apricots, dried fruits, nuts, flowers, and a hint of old Irish pot still whisky. I get pronounced violets, similar to violet candies when I smell it straight from the bottle, but from the glass, I get а flower bouquet I cannot distinguish. Dry and spicy finish on the...
Very varied and definitely worth the money
I am pleasantly surprised by the variety of flavours that this cognac offers. Not necessarily spices, but baking flavours that are difficult to identify in any case. An effort that I am happy to make. Highly recommended, go for it!
Borderies Brilliance
I am impressed by this stuff every time I drink it. It’s just so clean and direct in its delivery that if you like the flavours it will never disappoint. It’s not hugely complex for a spirit of this age, but the tropical fruit in the flower shop nose is great and way the liquid melts intense fruit...
Overrated but prove me wrong
I really did not want to review this or bring the rating down. But I felt compelled to give my personal experience with this Cognac. In all honestly, this was a 3/10 me. Forgive me but maybe it just personal preferences and I am no connoisseur. The nose is harsh, 2 dimensional and forgettable. It...
Pleasing sipper
On the nose: Fruity biscuit with violets, perfume of sumptuous grapes. Palate: Creamy on the palate, toffee caramel, rock sugar apricot, light pleasantly refreshing sourness, some hints of fruits like ripe greengage, a little bit charred vanilla coming up in between, hints of gooseberries, a glimpse...
Cost-effective cognac
Had to wait a little after pouring to enjoy the aromas. Good aromas of violets, dried fruits, apricots, oak and sawdust. Taste very mild. Less spicy. Very little acidity or bitterness, mainly juicy grape sweetness. The mouthfeel is very smooth, with no unpleasant or cloying tastes. Short, sweet...
What a Value
This cognac has lovely hues of a blend of orange and mahogany. The nose has a floral aroma of white flowers, with a bit of leather and cherry. The mouth feel is good and the finish is extremely smooth. This cognac is a very easy drink, no bumps or bruises, just a very easily consumed tipple.

First, great design of the bottle. At first opening I always write some tasting notes. I'm not good at it but whatever. I have fun writing them! Nose: Fruity, floral, a pinch of honey and a spicy edge. Taste: Wow, at the first sip I just enjoyed, great taste. Second sip: sugarcoated fruit, some...
Liquor that makes everyone happy
The very attractive wine bottle has made my friends want to open this bottle of cognac earlier; After opening Cognac, I smell the fragrance of violet flowers and ginger in my nose at the first time, and the fragrance soon fills the whole room. Drink a mouthful of cognac, which is full of vanilla,...
Impeccably crafted by the cellar master at the Moisans estate, the Cognac Moisans XO is a fine blend of rare Cognac casks from the family reserve. Selected from the finest of the Cognac terroirs, it is a fine assemblage of Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne and Fins Bois that has been aging for decades.

Ragnaud Sabourin Reserve Spéciale Alliance 20
Tasting of a sample from this year´s Advent Calendar: Pale gold. Fine floral nose, blond tobacco, mild honey. Spicy and sweet on the palate, lacking some fruit and not really complex. Medium to long finish, ending on spices, honey and fine wood. Fine cognac for this price!
A bargain XO
The first thing that I notice in the glass is the natural color of this Cognac!! Nice floral notes lead off the nose, which is rather delicate and elegant. Not a big or robust nose. As it sits for several minutes, subtle fruit notes appear. It is surprisingly full-bodied in the mouth, starting...
A true bargain
Ragnaud Sabourin is famous for their quality cognac. This is in the middle of the range with 20 years of age. For me this is a good everyday cognac. It is very nice on the nose with rich floral tones. In mouth you can find quite a lot of spices. This also continues into the finish, and it lasts for...
Produced entirely from Grande Champagne Ugni Blanc grapes and matured for at least two decades, Ragnaud Sabourin Reserve Spéciale Alliance 20 Cognac is a Cognac of exceptional complexity and finesse. Like all Cognacs from this esteemed house, the grapes for this expression were harvested on the Domaine de la Voute vineyard, making it a single estate bottling. The number codes on the bottles point to the age of the liquid inside; hence, the ‘20’ used here indicates that the youngest eaux-de-vie in the blend has been aged for at least 20 years.

A fine and tasty Grande Champagne - Raison Personelle XO 4.0

This is truly memorable example of outstanding craft in producing unforgettable eau de vie. Elegant, impressive and great taste, premium palate experience and fantastic finish! Great suggestion for tasting this little masterpiece!
An approachable taste
This is a bottle of good cognac with popular taste. Pour a cup of cognac, and after 30 minutes, your nose will feel the emergence of different floral flavors. It really makes friends like it. Drink one mouthful, and the sweet fruit and wood fragrance will continue. It has a good taste, and it's a...
Taste the bouquet
Darker in the bottle, a deep amber with gold highlights. The 1st nose is abundant, floral, and sophisticated, deepening over time. “Taste the bouquet”. Spicy flavors fill the mouth and evolve through a lengthy finish. Somehow this cognac tastes personal, as if the taste was a goal of a single...

Produced exclusively from grapes selected from the premier cru, the eaux-de-vie were then distilled over a wood fire (in the years 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006) and aged for at least 10 years before its aromas were ready for bottling.

Easy drinking
Bitter orange peel, nutmeg, cinammon and rancio on the nose. There is a, earthy, mushroom approach on the palate. It's soft warm and delicious. The finish is of decent length with some warmer spice coming through. This is a very decent cognac although not the most characterful I have had. I can see...
Le Maine Giraud XO Cognac

Not exactly e winner in Fins Bois class but affordable piece of cake for any mainstream XO connoisseur. A perfect example of everyday pleasure and surely the...
Different, but quite nice Fins Bois
Initially, the nose is unusually alive with fresh cut cedar, and perhaps some pine? As it opens, the expected fruit comes through, but not lively fresh fruit, and more a deeper fruit. Upon opening more in the glass, the fruit and cedar really complement each other. It is full-bodied in the mouth,...
Le Maine Giraud XO Cognac
Tasted from a sample of this year´s Advent Calendar. Nice deep amber. On the nose quite a lot of wood and some leather. On the palate the cognac is masked by sweet wood and dried fruits. The finish is medium to long, also lingering on sweet wood and not really complex.
A new acquaintance making a positive impression
It is rare that I taste cognac from producers I have never heard of and have no knowledge about. But that is the case here. So I didn't know what to expect when tasting this cognac. This is a 25 year old Fins Bois. In the glass this is a cognac with a deep amber color. It is quite thick in the...
A 25-year-old Cognac, this XO blend represents the quintessence of Le Maine’s art. Its aromas behold those to be expected of a well-aged Fins Bois Cognac, revealing distinct woody notes of cedar and oak. Selected by the cellar master for their utmost finesse, the eaux-de-vie of this blend spent a staggering 25 years aging in oak casks, hence such a high-quality result.
Born from the unique idea of combining a love for Cognac with a unique architectural and literary heritage – Maison Maine Giraud is centred around innovation. In fact, each plot of the estate is unique to another, allowing for one-of-a-kind, refined blends that differ from the rest.

Update on my previous review
What a difference a little time makes. I uncorked the bottle several months ago. The flavor profile has changed quite a bit. The initial smoky flavor is gone and has been replaced with a wonderful sweet nutty flavor. Almond and hazelnut for sure. It is everything I remember. I am so thrilled.
Hailing from the Fine Petite Champagne terroir is a light and fresh Cognac - the Chateau de Montifaud XO. With this Cognac, they have chosen to put the spotlight on the wonders of this cru in particular to show its own traits and qualities. The result is a smooth Extra Old Cognac that is on average around 28 to 30 years old. It includes eaux-de-vie from distillations of 1963, 1965 and 1967. The Petite Champagne is famous for its soil; the signature composition is chalky and able to produce Cognac to age with complexity and with great depth. The combination of eaux-de-vie from this fine terroir result in a non-tannic Cognac with little taste of spirit, and an excellent rancio. The aromas of dried fruits and slight almond nuttiness means that it is an ideal choice if you prefer a lighter Cognac.

I kiss your hands, madam Lheraud!
I don't want to describe tastes, everyone's tastes are different. I want to talk about other reasons. Maybe these reasons will inspire others. Cognac color - I have been looking for this color for a long time. It is unique, although some other cognacs have it, for example Gek Gel cognac (Republic...
L’Oublié’ or the ‘Forgotten’ XO of the Lheraud Paradis cellar is one to savor, as it is produced with a mastery of both traditional and modern Cognac production methods - and for this bottle in particular. Aged for at least 10 years in oak casks, we suspect that given the age of some of their Cognacs, it has been aged for far longer - and the design of the bottle is reminiscent of a style from decades ago.
Lheraud are masters of many different terroirs, but ultimately, they are a traditional Cognac house whose methods extend back for hundreds of years. Today’s owners, André and Guy Leheraud work tirelessly to help their heritage endure into the future. We like to think that this very elegant XO was stumbled upon by chance, after having delved deep into their chai. Expect a multifaceted bouquet with a roasted hint of cacao and spice on the nose, which transforms into a velvety, vanilla delight on the palate. The maturity in the mouth suggests that this is a very well aged Cognac indeed.

excellent young cognac
They would give you a lot of data, such as the fact that the vines are located in Nonaville, that this is pure ugni blanc, that the oak came from forêt de Tronçais, and that the house is located in Poulignac. Colour: gold. Nose: fresh and really very fruity. We're wandering throughout a large orchard...

Lovely fruit forward Cognac!!!
If many of you have read my reviews, you can quickly see that I tend to stick to mainly the Cognac, and not much small talk, but I'm going to add some comments to the end of this one. Young, crisp fruit greets the nose in the form of green apples and pear, almost reminding me of a young Calvados....
LÉSSENTIEL A12 - a really fine young cognac
A fascinating young cognac with a complex fruity nose without wood or rancio, very fresh, citrus notes, pears, yellow plums. Rather dense and oily on the palate, also on lemons, pears and apples. Juicy and fresh - a pleasure to drink and absolutely not simple or boring. The finish is of medium length,...
The third edition of L’ESSENTIEL Season 2 is here, this time in direct collaboration with our friends and neighbors Conte & Filles just up the road in Chillac.
This vibrant youthful Cognac comes from a single plot of vines situated in Nonaville, in the Petite Champagne cru, called Le Tas de Pierre - the pile of stone in English. Sisters Blandine and Anne-Laure Conte state that this particular name is undoubtedly due to the especially chalky subsoil. Furthermore, this unique vineyard is located completely on an east-facing hillside, which allows the vines to receive the day’s first rays of sun, but which protects the vines from the late afternoon and evening drying warm winds from the west. The vines are considerably old - roughly 40 years to be exact - so the roots are firmly established and pierce deep to seek freshness.

A Very Good Cognac!
This is a very good cognac that borders on great. Great balance with a fruity flavor. The only thing holding it back is that it is just not as rich or deep as I would prefer. Though I would still recommend this to anyone who likes fruity cognacs. A great value.

Excellent cognac from the point of view of someone who just started to drink cognac
I ordered this cognac for Christmas after I read the blog about cognac in the time of Corona. Comprised of eaux-de-vie from several different growing regions, the Prunier XO Carafe Cognac has been matured for around 15 years in French oak at Maison Pruinier’s cellars by the River Charente. The years have given this XO a range of deep, golden brown tones, a complex nose and elegant rancio on the palate. For such a great quality Cognac, this also offers exceptional value for money - it really is a superb staple XO to own.

Fine young Organic Folle Blanche XO from J-L Pasquet
Deep golden colour. The nose is complex with floral and herbal notes, fresh cut grass, sweet clover and fresh white peaches. The palate is dense and oily on juicy peaches, melons, fine pastry and honey. The finish is quite long on oranges, orange peels, liquorice and herbal freshness like mint...
Pasquet L’Organic Folle Blanche Lot X.I. stands out as a unique and one-of-a-kind offering as it is the only 100% organic and 100% Folle Blanche Cognac produced from eau-de-vie of Grande Champagne. Renowned for its rolling hills and beaming summer’s sun, the Premier Cru boasts chalky-clay soils – prime for producing the Cognac region’s best grapes. Typically, the Ugni Blanc grape variety is widely used to create eaux-de-vie, however small patches of land are reserved for more rare varieties including Folle Blanche.
With complex flavors that contrast both sweet and spicy to pure perfection, Pasquet L’Organic Folle Blanche L.X.I. Cognac certainly packs a punch. As you immerse the senses in the tasting, blissful fragrances of menthol, musk, Mirabelle plums, peaches, sandalwood and orange zest set the tasting alight before the eaux-de-vie has even passed your lips. Next, the silky nuances of honey prevail on the palate – with further hints of Mirabelle plums and spices.

Tiffon XO
In the glass, the XO also pours a deep amber color but with a slight metallic copper tint. Dipping my nose into the glass, it is apparent that this Cognac shares the same DNA as the Supreme, but with aromas that are more lifted, more elegant, and more precise. The chocolate, toffee, and vanilla...
Aged in oak casks for between 15 and 25 years with eaux-de-vie exclusively from the finest crus, this XO Cognac from the Tiffon estate delivers fine and distinct flavors of dried fruits, with a prevailing scent of vanilla and caramel. An elegant and lengthy finish of sweet cocoa and spice.
The Tiffon estate is legendary as it is the largest family-run company within Cognac, the entire production process is controlled on their grounds, growing the grapes across 40 hectares of vines in both the Grande Champagne and Fins Bois regions. After harvesting, all distillation takes place on site, with their Cognacs sitting in 15,000 oak casks, each holding 350 liters of Cognac, patiently maturing in one of 13 large warehouses.
