Passionate cognac enthusiast from Norway
A seasoned whisky enthusiast making my way through the delights of cognac. Santé!
I am an opinionated old man. After half a century of cognac I still have a pedestrian palate.
Hello I am Theodor. I am in love with Cognac, started out in 2016 with regular tastings. Then had to do a pause for some time and I am back in 2021.
I have a passion and love for all spirits, but particularly world brandy and world whisk(e)y. The great people at Cognac-Expert have greatly increased my exposure to not only more Cognac, but smaller producers who are doing phenomenal things!! Love you all!! Cheers!! French wine, and the concept of terroir, captured my interest early on. Naturally, curiosity took me to spirits, in particular Cognac. Today I'm proud to be a member of the Cognac Expert team managing B2B projects, working on Cognac Expert Originals, and writing bottle reviews for the English Blog. I love to taste anything and everything - rum/rhum, whisky(ey), Armagnac, etc. - but no other spirit grabs my attention quite like Cognac, and all of its subtleties and nuance. Santé !
Based in San Francisco, CA, I grew up on a vineyard in Europe. I am avid wine, and scotch enthusiast, and I have been exploring Cognacs and Armagnacs as a newly found passion.

Nose is so delicious
Reddish amber in the glass with gold highlights on the edges, an honest color. First nose is so delicious, hints of cigar box, freshly cut hardwood, but fruity, deep fruits, and a sense of the high abv. Time changes little, others have used the word “precise” and that fits. Mouth-filling, but...
A29 Grosperrin
Nose: Fruity (orange, a touch of lime), marzipan, subliminal lilac and very well integrated wood notes. Taste: Blood orange, clear wood tones , but absolutely within the framework. Lilac, the 47.8% is noticeable. Finish: medium to long, still restrained orange and strong wood notes. Verdict: Successful...
Lembert XO
Surprisingly very good. At this price point I assumed it would be good but average; turns out it’s above average for sure. I got the impression the taste started leaning towards nutty or almond and less fruity, but more balanced after a few tastings, it was great. Planning on ordering again....
Easy drinking
This is top of their ordinary range, only the Heritage is older. This is a very dark cognac. It is a bit shy on the nose, it takes time to get the aromas out of the glass. Then you can find tones of vanilla, fruit and some elegant wood. It is quite smooth in the mouth, you can find hints of spices...
