I have been blindtasting wine on a regular basis with a group of friends for mor than thirty years and got more and more fascinated by spirits during the last five years. After exploring r(h)ums and whisk(e)y I finally got into Armagnac and Cognac. I am happy to be able to continue this interesting journey.

French wine, and the concept of terroir, captured my interest early on. Naturally, curiosity took me to spirits, in particular Cognac. Today I'm proud to be a member of the Cognac Expert team managing B2B projects, working on Cognac Expert Originals, and writing bottle reviews for the English Blog. I love to taste anything and everything - rum/rhum, whisky(ey), Armagnac, etc. - but no other spirit grabs my attention quite like Cognac, and all of its subtleties and nuance. Santé !

Based in San Francisco, CA, I grew up on a vineyard in Europe. I am avid wine, and scotch enthusiast, and I have been exploring Cognacs and Armagnacs as a newly found passion.
An experience to share. The senses are awakened and invited to indulge, caramel, chocolate, wood, and spice. Enters strong, but savoring on the palate leaves a pleasant experience which lingers. I enjoyed a glass over Violet Moller's work, The Map of Knowledge, leaving one with many musings of f...
Amber with copper highlights. Reserved, refined, vanilla and almond. More aromatic in the mouth than on the nose, warm spices, developing notes with each sip, reserved sweetness, hints of oak, leather, both flora and fruit notes, amazing complexity for a single cask. Lengthy finish that makes ...
An unusual GC Cognac
The nose is unusual, with some mild fruit, and some flavors that I can’t put my finger on. As it opens, the fruit comes forward slightly, but not overpowering, with those unidentified flavors remaining. It is full-bodied in the mouth, but not thick, and more of a coating. The palate is rathe...
Light Good Middle X.O. Cognac Appropriate As Aperitif or As Digestive
At the opening - scent of bitter almond, dried fruits, lime and notes of Irish coffee on the back. No ethanol spirit smell. Alcohol is integrated into the cognac aroma. In The Glass: First 5-7 minutes scent of fermented apples and lime. Next 10-15 minutes scents of oranges, peache...
Exceptional Cognac - Marancheville Tres Rare Lot N°14/45
Beautiful amber colour with golden reflexes. The nose is really fascinating and complex with ever-changing nuances of ripe fruits ( oranges, mangos, peaches and apricots), vanilla, spices and fine wood. On the palate there is a stunning elegance and finesse for a cognac of this age. You can tas...
