Passionate cognac enthusiast from Norway
I am an opinionated old man. After half a century of cognac I still have a pedestrian palate.
I have been blindtasting wine on a regular basis with a group of friends for mor than thirty years and got more and more fascinated by spirits during the last five years. After exploring r(h)ums and whisk(e)y I finally got into Armagnac and Cognac. I am happy to be able to continue this interesting journey.
I have a passion and love for all spirits, but particularly world brandy and world whisk(e)y. The great people at Cognac-Expert have greatly increased my exposure to not only more Cognac, but smaller producers who are doing phenomenal things!! Love you all!! Cheers!! A seasoned whisky enthusiast making my way through the delights of cognac. Santé!
Hello I am Theodor. I am in love with Cognac, started out in 2016 with regular tastings. Then had to do a pause for some time and I am back in 2021.
French wine, and the concept of terroir, captured my interest early on. Naturally, curiosity took me to spirits, in particular Cognac. Today I'm proud to be a member of the Cognac Expert team managing B2B projects, working on Cognac Expert Originals, and writing bottle reviews for the English Blog. I love to taste anything and everything - rum/rhum, whisky(ey), Armagnac, etc. - but no other spirit grabs my attention quite like Cognac, and all of its subtleties and nuance. Santé !
Based in San Francisco, CA, I grew up on a vineyard in Europe. I am avid wine, and scotch enthusiast, and I have been exploring Cognacs and Armagnacs as a newly found passion.

A lovely Cognac!!
Initially on the nose is gingerbread cookie, with some nice subtle honey poured on. As it opens, the honey comes forward, with perhaps some vanilla at the rim of the glass. A wonderful nose!! As it opens even more, some additional spices appear. It is full-bodied in the mouth, and starts semi-...
A treat for rum and cognac lovers
This is exactly what one would expect from this marriage. This is still a rum but with a strong presence of cognac and pineau. For all those who love rum, cognac and pineau I would strongly recommend this. Even for those who are not into rum, this would be a good starting point, as it has enough ...
It's Good!
Being relatively new to trying different Cognacs, I don't know, and not sure I can tell, the various flavors that folks talk about. But here is what I like about this cognac. I love the color. It's a slightly dark amber. The smell (do you call it nose?) when I first open the bottle and pour i...
Fine young Organic Folle Blanche XO from J-L Pasquet
Deep golden colour. The nose is complex with floral and herbal notes, fresh cut grass, sweet clover and fresh white peaches. The palate is dense and oily on juicy peaches, melons, fine pastry and honey. The finish is quite long on oranges, orange peels, liquorice and herbal freshness like min...
