Tesseron Lot N°53 XO Perfection Cognac

Tesseron Cognac

The Tesseron Lot No 53 Perfection is well named.  Blended from their best stocks of Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie, this is a wonderfully complex, yet refreshing cognac.  Indeeed, Wine Enthusiast have named this their No 1 Spirit of the Year, and it has been awarded 5 stars in The Spirit Journal.

For a cognac of this caliber it offers extremely good value for money.  And the packaging is pretty easy on the eye as well!  The bottle is modern, with clean lines, an elegant stopper, and an eye-catchingly simplistic label.  The cognac comes complete with a presentation box - perhaps an ideal choice of gift for a cognac connoisseur?  Or maybe just a present for yourself.

Tasting Notes

Tasting notes by Tesseron:

Color: Splendid mahogony

Nose: Wonderful, heady aromatic tang, borne of long wood ageing is compelling. Gives way to hints of wood, dried fruits & tobacco - rich & generous

Palate: Extremely appetising, opulent, rounded, yet vivacious. Pepper & spices initially before revealing dark chocolate & fresh herbs. Complex, supreme finesse, supple opulence, good length

Cognac Tesseron specializes, as this slogan suggests, in high-end cognacs. As their marketing slogan suggests, they only produce “XO and Beyond”, so cognacs from the XO age onwards. From their ancestral home Domaine Tesseron in Châteauneuf-sur-Charente, which lies between Cognac and Angoulême, the Tesseron family traditionally used to sell its eaux-de-vie to the large cognac houses. But in 2003 they decided to release a range under their own family name. The Tesserons are also active in wine production, owning Château Pontet-Canet – a Pauillac classified property producing Grand Cru Classé Bordeaux wine.
