Shipping to the United States
After a brief pause caused by new U.S. import tariffs and stricter customs enforcement, we’ve rebuilt the shipping route from our French warehouse to you.From now on, bottles will ship via FedEx Express from France with all duties prepaid—so your Cognac arrives quickly, fully compliant, and with zero hidden charges.We rely on third-party services and have no control over every step in the logistics chain. Due to the government shutdown in the US, customs clearance is currently taking longer.Shipping to the United Kingdom
Your order is shipped under DAP (Delivered at Place) terms.This means that United Kingdom import charges may apply upon delivery are payable by you to Parcelforce.These are not included in your order total at checkout.
Parcelforce charges VAT, import processing fees, and an alcohol tax. We are currently working on displaying the estimated additional charges at checkout.

While we can't guarantee that a shipment will arrive in time for the holidays, please rest assured that we always do our best. 2. Additional details
We ship rare Cognac from France to your doorstep. Just like the aging process of Cognac in the barrel, shipping to you can take some time.
Delivery charges
Our charges vary widely across different destinations. As we ship directly from the region of Cognac, France, our parcels will take some time to arrive. We use the latest technology to monitor every parcel, and will contact you and/or the postal service should a delivery require special attention.
Taxes & Customs
Shipping spirits across borders is a complicated process, and in some circumstances will be subject to additional delivery time and/or fees for customs and import taxes.
USA (FedEx)
Your order may be subject to local taxes. We cannot be held responsible for any delay, blocked parcels, or confiscation by local customs, or any other import/tax authority. It is the responsibility of the client to get in touch with customs to resolve the clearance issue, and/or cover any fees, duties, or taxes should they occur.
European Union
Prices includes French (European) VAT if not stated otherwise. To our knowledge, import or additional customs fees are not applied. Our terms & conditions apply.
Outside European Union
Your order is shipped under DAP (Delivered at Place) terms. Your order may be subject to local taxes. We cannot be held responsible for any delay, blocked parcels, or confiscation by local customs in the receiving country, or any other import/tax authority. Important note for countries where importing is prohibited
A potential (but rare) occurrence could be that customs will return the package to the sender. Another (rare) potential procedure could be that customs and/or the postal service decide to destroy the product as it is classified as "flammable goods".
Delivery times
We emphasize that we can neither guarantee specific delivery dates nor delivery time frames. Please be patient while we get your order to you as soon as is humanly possible.
Delivery time frames for orders of Old Vintage, Collection, Reserve, Prestige and Hors d'Age 50+ years old Cognacs are not guaranteed to be delivered within the parameters stated in the above chart.
Undeliverable items
It is the responsibility of the customer to provide a valid and reachable shipping address for the package to arrive safely. We cannot be held responsible for incorrect or insufficient shipping addresses that result in a failed delivery. Also, we cannot be held responsible for a failed delivery due to refusal to accept the parcel.
Return fees
If the shipping service cannot deliver the parcel, it will be returned to the sender. In this case, it is the customer's responsibility to make sure they have given a correct or sufficient shipping address, and to make sure that they are available to receive the parcel. The costs of return are paid by the customer, and are dependent on weight, size and the shipping destination.
Return fees USA (FedEx)
The return fee is the same amount as the initial shipping costs. In the case of a failed delivery the cost of purchase for the product, minus the cost of the initial shipment and the return shipment, will be refunded once the product has been received by the sender. Alternatively, the parcel (once returned to sender) can be re-shipped on receipt of a new shipping fee being paid by the customer to Cognac Expert.
Return fees other countries
The return fee is the same amount as the initial shipping costs. In the case of a failed delivery the cost of purchase for the product, minus the cost of the initial shipment and the return shipment, will be refunded once the product has been received by the sender. 3. Damaged goods
We ship and send a large amount of Cognac bottles, and it is very rare that any get damaged.
Other countries and the USA (FedEx, French Postal Service)
In the unlikely event of visible outer damage or leakage, please DO NOT REFUSE the package. Declare the damage to the delivery person who must provide you with some written confirmation. Only with this written confirmation of damage and refusal are we able to proceed with your claim. Recommendation: In the case of visible outer damage or leakage, open the parcel in front of the delivery person and show it to them. They can then provide you with written confirmation of the damage. You must send a damage claim within 48 hours to [email protected], and include the following details: Order reference/invoice ID, date and time the package was received, photos of damages goods and parcel, and written confirmation of the damage from the delivery company.
We will arrange a replacement to be delivered as soon as possible.
Please note: If you send the claim more than 48 hours after arrival of the shipment, we will not be able to refund or replace the broken or damaged goods.
4. New rules concerning shipping to the US
We've launched a brand-new shipping process for our US customers. While prices have increased, we now offer 100% compliant, faster, and more reliable delivery with no surprises.
When the US government introduced additional import tariffs on French spirits and customs agents began enforcing them more aggressively, dozens of parcels were either returned or didn't make it through customs. Continuing with the old route would have meant suspending US deliveries altogether. Instead, we invested time and resources in a fully compliant FedEx Express solution. The goal was never to “charge more”, but to protect your orders and keep Cognac flowing across the Atlantic. Please note that Cognac Expert neither sets nor profits from US import duties, tariffs, or taxes. These charges are imposed by current US trade regulations and are collected by US Customs.
Optimized pricing tiers for 3, 6, and 12 bottles. The more you order, the better value you get per bottle. We know this is an adjustment, but the old system wasn't sustainable. This is the only way forward to ensure your bottles arrive safe, sound, and without issue.
