Vintage Cognac

A Vintage Cognac is distilled from one specific harvest only, one vintage (i.e. 1990). The Cognac producer decides to set aside a selection of barrels for vintage designation, and an inspector literally seals and locks the barrels away for restricted access. This procedure allows the producer to print the year of the vintage on the label. It is important that the bottling date is written on the label, as it indicates for how long the Cognac has actually been aging in the barrel. This Millesime / Vintage cognac presents a very delicate nose: strong spices and vanilla at first, then slight notes of tea. On the palate it's very round, exotic hints and then slight wood aromas.  Very balanced, the finish is long and typical for a Petite Champagne cognac.

Hine 1990 Grande Champagne vintage review: Good deal of pepper bread, brioche and some honey on the nose - flowers. Slightly spiced, a great and long finish. Clearly a complex cognac, for connaisseurs.

Tasting review by Grosperrin: Very intense aromas and taste. Distilled with fine lees. The wood is well balanced. Fruity aromas are dominant, with traces of almond and apricot. Full and pleasantly non-aggressive palate, with a taste of liquorice and mushroom

Tasting review by Grosperrin: Old gold color. A powerful, buttery nose with lots of tasty notes: croissant, honey, caramel. The palate is warm and straight, dense: ripe grapes, almond tart with pears, prunes. The finish is powerful, nice and mineral.

Tasting review by Grosperrin: Light, straw-coloured hue. The nose is delicate, floral, fresh, airy, and light with a hint of citrus. The palate is slightly rough, since the wood has not been fully assimilated. Although its youth is apparent (this spirit is "only" 15 years old), it nevertheless has great delicacy. The finish leaves a slightly sweet trace...

Tasting review by Grosperrin: Old gold color. Decadant nose, striking the nose with the very best of what a Grande Champagne cognac can offer. Tantalizes with hawthorn and bright notes of oak and licorice. Then currants, candied apricot. In the mouth the attack is fresh and tasty, soon giving way to nectar and and explosion of spices. A satisfyingly long...

Tasting review by Grosperrin: A deep amber color. On the nose, musky aroma, winey (vieux Sémillon), with a touch of acetic notes. On the palate, the first notes have a predominance of nutmeg and licorice. The finish is quite short.
