The Bar Staple
Nose: It’s quite nutty. Vanilla, some orchard fruits. Quite a bit of oak on the nose for a VS. Palate: Apples, Cinnamon, Walnuts, a touch of orange and oak. Finish: Cinnamon and oak. For a blend that includes some youthful cognacs, it is well balanced and well made.
Citrus and Floral
Nice cognac for the price! On the nose it smells a bit youthful, but a nice mixture of floral and citrus notes (with a hint of caramel too!). On the palate the citrus hits first, and then floral. I taste a little bit of spice but not much wood flavor which is differenet compared to some of the ot...
La Fût-sée ‘Lot 91’ (49.2%, WV Baker & Cie, Bons bois, +/-2025)
What a playful label! The whole thing—name included—gives off a delightfully good-natured, if slightly cheeky, vibe. Colour: gold. Nose: this one’s more on the earthy and herbal side, very much in line with the character of most ‘bois’, leaning towards fruit skins (melons, peaches) and ...
Les Ormeaux XO (Lot 72)
Very nice and sincere Fins Bois Cognac here - and really a crazy age for the simple "XO" on the label. Really, not all XOs can be treated the same. Beautiful mature nose - absolutely zero mistaking this for a young Cognac. Spices, orange-y somewhat earthy fruits more on the candied side of ...
Really love this 53 year old Fins Bois
Honestly this is a great, old value-for-money Cognac. The nose is rich, the body is very balanced. It is 40% so do not expect crazy intense character, if you're looking for a balanced single-cask single vintage Cognac, that is really pretty old, here you go.
Cognac Gautier VSOP
An intense aroma and sweet fruit flavor dominate the profile. A “Martell”-style blend, but more refined and less commercial. No distinct regional character is discernible—a common flaw in many blends. Overall, a good product if you enjoy this style of flavor. Original review: Intens...
Floral Lift and Citrus Tension
Lhéraud VS shows a youthful but expressive profile, combining sweetness, floral lift and energetic spirit character in a way that feels lively rather than rough. The nose is clean and quite intense, offering notes of orange, jasmine and white flowers, followed by touches of clove, oak, caramel a...
Fruit-Forward with a Refreshing Citrus Lift
Ferrand Ambré Grande Champagne presents a bright, lively and fruit-driven profile that immediately feels fresher and more terroir-led than oak-led. The nose is clean and expressive, showing citrus notes of lemon, lime and orange, supported by white flowers, lemongrass, light honey and caramel. Y...
