Gourry de Chadeville XO Cognac
Anbaugebiet (Cru) & Boden: Grande Champagne
Gourry de Chadeville XO Cognac is, according to the house itself, an "exceptional Grande Champagne cognac". And it must be said that this reputedly the oldest cognac house in history certainly has the know-how and passion to know what they're talking about.
As you'd expect with a cognac of this age and quality, it's a deep mahogony color. It has a velvet touch on the palate with well balanced, rich tones - and a finish that lasts up to 12 minutes. An excellent choice of XO for the cognac connoisseur - truly a bottle that deserves its place in the best of drinks cabinets.
A sweet impression.
My knowledge of Oldest Cognac is what has always attracted me to the taste of Cognac.
After learning about the story of Gourry de Chadeville Cognac on the Cognac Expert website, I decided to purchase this bottle of XO and shared the Gourry de Chadeville XO with my family over a delightful weekend.
Upon opening the bottle, the nose was greeted with a variety of aromas, with the cognac in the glass emitting light vanilla and sweet aromas of jasmine and daffodils and chocolate.
On the first sip, the mouth is filled with layers of candied honey, saffron, ginger and honey spices mixed with nutmeg and cedarwood. The wine is full-bodied and lingers on the finish.
The Gourry de Chadeville Cognac is memorable to me, thanks to a good introduction from a Cognac expert.
