Marcillac Hors d'Age
I recently revisited this Armagnac, which also gave me the opportunity to reflect on the visit to the domaine, where I was first introduced to this Hors d'Age Armagnac. The tasting image is from the Marcillac cellar - absolutely one of the most stunning cellars I've visited, Cognac and Armagnac c...
Outstanding Petite Champagne
Lheraud 40YR XO Charles VII was from a previous Advent Calendar, and produced from 100% Petite Champagne. Lovely dark fruits greet the nose initially. As it opens, I get some subtle nut in the mix, but this is all about the fruit, and it is quite inviting! This is full-bodied and mouth-coating...
Interesting
As Spock said "It's Gin, Jim, but not as we know it." I felt like my mouth was being beaten with Poseys wielded by septuagenarian ladies. An overwhelming memory of those violet candy hearts we had as Children. It wasn't for me but at that price, it is a worthwhile experiment. I had people beg...
Very good
This is a nice, smooth Armagnac. Not quite as much to our liking as the Montluc that we received some months ago but perfectly fine. A benefit of the subscription service is to receive items previously unknown to us. This was perfectly satisfactory and we were glad to get it.
Duc Moisans X.O. Armagnac is Light and Mellow Digestif, as well, good for a Light Cuban Cigar
Slight ethanol spirit smell. Alcohol is almost dialed in the Armagnac. NOSE: At the opening - sweet aroma of marzipan, gala apples, almond with hint of chocolate and young port. In The Glass: First 5-7 minutes very sweet scent of young port wine, sweet grape or raisins grown under the sun...
Audry Très Ancienne Réserve Aristide
Tasted from a sample of the Audry Discovery Set. Beautiful colour tasted H2H with the Audry Exception: deep amber with golden reflexes. Quite a bit of alcoholic bite in your nose, leather, furniture polish and fine spices. On the palate also driven by alcohol, accompanied with woody notes, liq...
Audry Memorial Cognac - Quite a step up!
Tasted from the Audry discovery set, this one is really a step up from the Napoleon, XO and the Réserve Spéciale - is it the higher ABV? - I think it is part of it, as the Memorial is more intense, shows more body and the finish is also longer. The other part of this step up is the blending of...
Pleasant Cognac - Audry Réserve Spéciale
This cognac shows a deep amber colour. On the nose you can smell nuts, fine oak and dried oranges. The palate is very smooth and balanced. The finish is about medium ending on oak and spices - not really a step up from the XO.
