This young and floral Cognac is the flagship release from famed producer Hine. The H by Hine VSOP Cognac is a blend of over 15 different eaux-de-vie sourced from Grande and Petite Champagne, aged for a minimum of four years. The high humidity environment of the Hine cellars - located by the River Charente - slows down evaporation to create a more mellow and refined Cognac.
The history of Hine Cognac starts in the 18th Century, when a young man by the name of Thomas Hine from Dorset arrived in Jarnac to undertake administerial work for a Cognac producer. He soon fell in love with the proprietor’s daughter Françoise-Elisabeth and married into the family. Now the son-in-law of the owner, Thomas was able to take on a senior role and used his financial skills to make major changes, developing trade beyond France. In 1817, he officially changed the name of the company to Thomas Hine & Co.
These days, the house of Hine focuses only on the Fine Champagne growing areas, overseeing 115 hectares of land by the village of Bonneuil. Vines of Ugni Blanc grapes cover the limestone-studded hills, drawing nutrients and water deep from the chalky soil even during the hottest summers.

Slim and elegant, this is a bottle that beautifully combines the classic with the modern. The red foil matches Hine’s signature logo - and the gift box - while the cut-out letter ‘H’ cleverly allows the liquid to show through the label.
Lively and elegant, this VSOP is great served on its own, but also the ideal ingredient for cocktails and mixed drinks. Try it with a dash of cold tonic, cider or ginger ale, garnished with a twist of lime, cucumber or rosemary.

This Cognac isn't like anything I've had yet. When I first opened up the bottle, it smelt a little bit like cherry, it stood out to me quite a bit and it's all I could really take away from it after drinking it. Bright and fruity. Lots of citrus and apricot with vanilla overtones. Very drinkable, nice sweet fruity arrival, with a bit of liquorice. Finish is a medium length with touches of spice. Very easy drinking.
Gelegen in het hart van de Grande Champagne, het eersteklas wijnbouwgebied van de Cognac regio, produceert het huis Hine al zes generaties lang enkele van de meest exquise Cognacs, toen het nog beter bekend stond als T Hine & Co Cognac. Een van hun handelsmerken is het opslaan van hun vintage vaten in vochtige kelders in Bristol, Engeland. Op deze manier ondergaat de Thomas Hine Cognac een uniek ander rijpingsproces door de vochtigheid van de kuststad, die enigszins verschilt van die aan de zuidwestkust van Frankrijk.
