Nose: Aromatic and inviting. Vanilla icing, hint of shaved coconut, spices: cinnamon, nutmeg, clove; dessert notes like a financier or canele, cooked fruits in copper pot on their way to becoming confiture, a vegetal note and an oak note which provide sharpness and definition to the rhum.

Palate: Warming. Good impression of power but with heightened elegance. Dry. Interesting contrast between the gourmand notes and the sharp vegetal notes. Its rhum agricole DNA reveals itself on the palate - which is a good thing. Finely tannic on the finish, good spices. Gingerbread. Nice alliance between the gourmand cooked fruit and spice flavors and the sharper dryer herbal and oak notes. Bielle does not disappoint!

Description

Distillerie Bielle 2013 Hors d’Age Brut de Fût Rhum Agricole

The Distillerie Bielle 2013 Hors d’Age Brut de Fût by Maison Chollet inaugural forays into the exquisite world of rhum agricole. Distilled on the island of Marie-Galante in 2013 and bottled in October 2023, this rhum is a rare find. Aged in ex-bourbon casks, it carries a robust 50.2% ABV in a 500ml bottle.

This Rhum is limited to 410 bottles only.

Who?

Crafted by the seasoned hands at Maison Chollet and Distillerie Bielle, this rhum is a product of collaboration, expertise and passion.

Where?

This gem from Marie-Galante has enjoyed both tropical and continental European aging, blending the best of both worlds to achieve its unique profile.

How?

A rhum agricole, a spirit distilled from pure cane juice, embodying the rich heritage of Martinique and Guadeloupe's Rhum production.

Reason?

This is Bonjour Drinks’ very first rhum agricole (made from pure cane juice). Martinique and Guadeloupe, of which the small island Marie-Galante is a part of, have extraordinary heritages of rhum production. But we just can’t get over the warming seductive gourmandise of this Bielle rhum.

Fun Fact

Since 2015 rhum in Guadeloupe has IGP (l’indication géographique protégée) status, which allows for either rhum agricole (pure cane juice base) or traditional rum (molasses based) production. Unlike the stricter AOC status, IGP Guadeloupe rhum does not require a passage before a tasting committee to carry the geographic indication on the label.
