AE DOR Cognac

The vintage eaux-de-vie of A.E. Dor are one the few that are left from before phylloxera struck the region in 1874. Adapting to current developments in the cognac industry and the luxury market in general, the company, today headed by Jacques Riviere, have launched a new range of products that target a wider and more international group of consumers.

Such an underestimated brand! Their products are just great.. but AE Dor has a huge problem with their marketing and positioning: Obviously these are cognacs for connaisseurs, but there are FAR too many in their range. They should cut a view products and concentrate on let's say 10 cognacs.

The Ethnic Divide: Cognac in the U.S. (Market research)
17-01-2017 / Recent data from North American market research provider, Ipsos, has thrown an interesting shift in who’s enjoying cognac in the U.S. Historically it’s been black drinkers who’ve accounted for a large proportion of purchasers. Max’s Visit to Le Baume de Bouteville
20-12-2016 / Well, this was a slightly different type of visit for me to make, because Le Baume de Bouteville is not a cognac house. It is, in fact, a creator of artisan French balsamique vinegar. So what on earth has that got to do with cognac? Well, as it turns out, quite a lot. It was Read full article...

14-12-2016 / By Michelle Brachet What a truly amazing experience. This was my first visit to Bergen in Norway and the hospitality of everyone I met over the weekend was quite overwhelming. History of A.E. Dor

Amédée Eduard Dor gave his name to this cognac distillery. In 1858, as a descendent from an ancient family from Cognac, he finally realized his dream: to become the owner of a small cognac company and follow his passion, which was to make the most exquisite cognac around. Even though his company would never exceed a certain size, the products it would produce over generations to come remained to be of the highest quality until this day.

    News, Products & Anecdotes

A very interesting point to note is that A.E. Dor was exempted from the law of 1946, which stated that all cognacs have to have a minimum of 40% in alcohol strength. This meant that A.E. Dor were able to sell their Tres Vieilles Grandes Champagnes, very old vintage cognacs that forcibly loose alcoholic strength over the decades.
