Chateau de Montifaud

Owned by the family Vallet for six generations, Chateau de Montifaud Cognac boasts 125 hectares of vineyards that are located in both the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne growing regions. The house produces a large, high quality range of cognacs – including various vintages from years that have had an exceptional harvest. One family tradition that Chateau de Montifaud Cognac is proud to follow, is that of when a new baby boy is born to the head of the cognac house, that part of the cognac created from that year’s harvest is set to one side. This is kept for a varying number of years, but may only be sold by future generations.

Tasting review by Chateau de Montifaud: The dried flowers “character” prevails. Vanilla is very perceptible. Rancio (the nutty flavour peculiar to certain spirits) appears in final touches. Suppleness and roundness on the palate. Dried fruit, prunes in the mouth.

Tasting notes: Very fruity aromas, dry and some fried almonds, on the nose. On the palate this cognac is fresh, very round and with a long finish. The Rancio Charentais is very present, with slight spices here and there.

Review on Chateau de Montifaud VSOP Grande Champagne and tasting notes: "Fleur de vigne" notes, and other flower hints, more than the house's VS. A fruity cognac, with a balance on the palate.

Tasting notes by Chateau de Montifaud: The fruity aromas (fruit with pits) and a woody flavor dominate the floral fragrances; powerful. The floral scents evolve towards dried flowers, identical characteristics in the Petite Champagne.  On the palate, the eau-de-vie is fruity (plum, apricot), full and supple.
