Description
Chateau de Montifaud Héritage Louis Vallet Cognac is a very rare Cognac that was distilled by the third generation of Chateau de Montifaud, Louis Vallet - containing blends of eau-de-vie from 1947-1955. Drawn from the most precious barrels of the Château de Montifaud, this cognac stands proud as a prized emblem of several generations of the Vallet family at Chateau de Montifaud.
Matured in French oak barrels for half a century, the alcohol level of this very old cognac has naturally reduced down to less than 50%, meaning Heritage Louis Vallet Cognac has almost attained its optimal in fullness and contains the expected exceptional rancio to match. Once aging has reached its peak, this cognac will be stored in the glass of Dame Jeanne in order to stop maturation completely.
With its chalky land content and prominent limestone, the Petit Champagne region is the ideal terroir for producing prime quality cognac, and so, it comes as no surprise that cognac houses alike have been reaping the benefits of the land here for decades. Chateau de Montifaud is a brand that values tradition and with this in mind, continues to pass on years of artisanal expertise, generation after generation, through a tight knit family-run business.
Presentation of the bottle
Showcasing its beautifully copper colouring, Chateau de Montifaud Héritage Louis Vallet cognac comes in a simplistic 70cl bottle which is protected and homed in its own wooden gift box. The vintage style handwritten label of this bottle embodies the treasured identity of the cognac, as it stands as a proud symbol of the hard work put in by the Vallet family over the years at Chateau de Montifaud.
How to enjoy
Having found its alcohol content naturally over time, this cognac contains unparalleled elegance and infinite depth that should be enjoyed one sip at a time. Drink neat from a tulip glass, as the narrow top of this type of glass will delicately distribute the arrival of aromas during the tasting.
About Château de Montifaud
Owned by the family Vallet for six generations, Chateau de Montifaud Cognac boasts 125 hectares of vineyards that are located in both the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne growing regions. The house produces a large, high quality range of cognacs – including various vintages from years that have had an exceptional harvest. One family tradition that Cognac Chateau Montifaud is proud to follow, is that of when a new baby boy is born to the head of the cognac house, that part of the cognac created from that year’s harvest is set to one side. This is kept for a varying number of years, but may only be sold by future generations.
