Bio:
I live on the east coast. Another blue collar guy, with an affinity for good tequila and rum. I am, by no means, an expert. At best an enthusiast with a lingering memory of my father letting me try a small shot of something he said I would remember for the rest of my life. Cognac.... he wasn't wrong entirely. I was only 11 or 12 at the time and have no idea what kind it was beyond it being shaped similar to a wine bottle. I was far too young to appreciate it. When I tried a sip I thought I had ingested napalm but there was something else there also. An aftertaste maybe sort of like raisins that lingered for a bit. I didn't hate it..... Lot's of Cognac out there, the few I have tried have been intriguing. Looking forward to new discoveries.

While my father introducing me to cognac may have started the embers smoldering
Ferrand S.D.A. is what turned those embers into a roaring fire.
My wife and I were out to dinner in Boston when I noticed
they had cognac on the menu. they ranged in price from fairly reasonable to
downright obscene. I landed in the middle with Selection Des Anges. There was another Ferrand but it was very pricey(Legendaire....$140.00 a pop ..yikes). Alcohol tends to be one of the most marked up items in most restaurants.
I enjoyed the S.D.A. enough that I had to google it as soon as I got home.
I found it here on Cognac Expert and ordered a bottle.
It was amazing, There was no burn, the aroma of chocolate and vanilla were
pervasive at first then ginger. there was a constant dried fruit flavor, oak was obvious
as well as some flavors I still cant quite identify.
It was, simply put, awesome! A great re-introduction into cognac .
I'll be looking for more.
