De Luze VS Fine Champaign cognac is fresh and bold

74 De Luze VS Fine Champaign cognac is a blend of 70% Grand Champagne and 30% Petit Champagne. It’s fresh and bold. Color is light yellow gold, not nearly as dark as others VS brandies. This is a “dry and pale” style of cognac. De Luze, doesn’t add caramel to their cognac. Cellar master uses only quality eau de vie and the art of blending to produce an excellent cognac. No margin for error here, that can be covered/smoothed with sugar and caramel. Strong aromas of orange peel, bright white flowers. In a few minutes, dark chocolate, prunes and dates aromas become evident. The palate presents more oranges, tabaco, spices, cloves. Flavors are excellent. De Luze is one of the few houses, that distills unfiltered, with its "lees" in-house. This distillation process results in full body and tick, rich and oily mouthfeel. The finish is long for VS cognac. Strong spices, oranges, pepper and cloves. Overall, De Luze VS is better than any other VS cognac, except for Hardy VS. The only other cognac that exhibits this much orange flavors on the nose and palate is Frapin. I love Frapin, but it costs twice as much as De Luze. De Luze VS is a great cognac, worth drinking neat from a sniffer and on par with, if not better than, many VSOP. A great drum, a great value. Highly recommended.
