Description
A Century of Antique XO: A Limited Edition to mark 1920-2020
To mark 100 years since the very first blend of Antique XO was created by Georges Hine in 1920, the Hine Antique XO 100th Anniversary 1920-2020 is a very limited edition cuvée. Only 1920 decanters exist of this rare nectar, and each bottle has been lovingly numbered by hand.
This Hine 100 Year Anniversary Cognac contains the original Antique XO, with a special eau-de-vie from the 1920 harvest too. It has been preserved by the cellar masters in glass demi-johns in the Réserve du Paradis in Jarnac, where the Englishman Thomas Hine established Hine Cognac on the banks of the Charente river in 1763.
The Antique XO is renowned for its harmonious blend of around 40 eaux-de-vie, all selected from grapes grown in the prestigious Grande Champagne terroir.
The Grande Champagne, also known as the Premier Cru, isn’t named that way for nothing. Geologically, it is perfect for growing exceptional grapes to be made into Cognac. Thanks to millions of years of fossilization dating back to the Jurassic period, the soil in this region is remarkably chalky, fine, with a unique maritime climate that receives plenty of sunlight.
The result is a rich and floral blend with notes of iris and lilac, with vibrant hints of citrus, a sweet body of pastry, and elegant cedar notes. The aromatic persistence goes on and on.
Serving Suggestions
Enjoy the Antique 100th Anniversary XO neat, or alternatively it is best accompanied by a mature cheddar cheese, grilled pineapple or even a piece of citrus chocolate. The Antique is remarkably decadent with a lingering taste in the mouth.
Presentation of the decanter
Crafted in the traditional Antique XO decanter, this is a stylish decanter that shows off the hue of the eaux-de-vie within. It has been bottled at 40% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It arrives in its own matching presentation box that will make a fantastic gift, or on show.

Fantastic Value
I was really surprised how pleasant the nose upon opening the bottle. The chocolate taste stands out compared to the original. This is a completely different level for the nose and the taste. The extra 1920 eau-de-vie makes all the difference. I left wanting more until the bottle was gone.
About Hine Cognac
Located in the heart of the Grande Champagne, the premium wine growing area of the Cognac region, the house of Hine has been producing some of the most exquisite Cognacs for six generations, when it was better known as T Hine & Co Cognac. The estate boasts an exceptional 173 acres of vineyards, and the house has a very special tradition of producing relatively small quantities - but with a very high standard in quality. One of their trademarks is to store their vintage casks in damp cellars in Bristol, England. This way, the Thomas Hine Cognac goes through a uniquely different ageing process due to the humidity of the seaside town, which differs somewhat to that of the southwestern coast of France. These highly priced vintage bottles are called “Hine Early-Landed Vintage Cognac”.
