Description
The World’s Best XO Cognac 2020: Domaine du Chêne Jean Doussoux XO Single Cask N° 89 Decanter Cognac
This XO cognac has been produced through the meticulous blending of Bons Bois eaux-de-vie which was originally harvested in 1989 before being patiently aged for over a decade. The eaux-de-vie was matured in a single oak cask within the renowned cellars of the Domaine du Chêne estate.
The exquisite cognac was originally developed for a Japanese restaurant in Germany, however it has rose to fame amongst Cognac connoisseurs and critics across the world, seeing it claim multiple awards.
Following the impressive feat of taking home the prestigious ‘World’s Best XO Cognac’ award from the 2020 World Cognac Awards, a limited-to-100 edition decanter within a wooden box has been released. The Domaine du Chêne Jean Doussoux XO Single Cask N° 89 Cognac’s majestic decanter has become an immediately sought-after collector’s item.
It is no surprise that this cognac claimed victory in the World Cognac Awards as it succeeds in being a full and sensual flavour, yet not overpowering. Subtle sweet flavours of caramel and vanilla combined with earthy and oaky tones are complimented by light warm winter spices such as clove and nutmeg.
This single cask selection is produced using only Ugni Blanc grapes, cultivated using sustainable viticulture practices and produced using traditional ancestral methods, even down to the cork used. Every aspect of true craftsmanship is demonstrated in this particular XO, which speaks to the level of expertise at the Domaine du Chêne.
The Domaine du Chêne has been operating since the mid-19th century and is located in the, often underestimated, Bons Bois growing terroir of Cognac.
Presentation of the bottle
This decanter is of bold, yet elegant design. It has wide shoulders and a thick neck, allowing the striking amber hue of this award-winning cognac to be admired in all its glory.
The decanter is presented in a sophisticated wooden box and a gold and red colour palette is used throughout to compliment the stunning shade of the cognac itself.
How to enjoy
The masters at Jean Doussoux recommend serving this Cognac at between 12°C and 15°C in order to fully appreciate its palatable notes of caramel and clove as well as its earthy aromas.
