Distillerie des Aravis Genepi Berger Liqueur
Description
Distillerie des Aravis Genepi Berger Liqueur
Step into the pristine heart of the French Alps with Distillerie des Aravis' Génépi Berger. Made from the maceration and distillation of the génépi plant native to the mountains, this spirit is a testament to traditional distillation practices and the vibrant, rich terroir of the Alps.
Origin: Tradition and Family Legacy
Founded in 1878 by a wine merchant from Annecy, the Distillerie des Aravis earned a reputation for its famous Aravis liqueur, thanks to the knowledge of a monk skilled in medicinal plants. From 1954 to 2018, the distillery thrived under the Thevenet family's watchful eye. Despite a brief closure in 2018, the distillery got a new lease on life when siblings Sarah and Romain Gauthier from Ardèche, both children of distillers, took over the operation in 2020. Today, they maintain the distillery's tradition, producing spirits with a distinctly Alps character.
Production Process: Ancestral Recipe Preserved
Formerly known as "Génépi du Père Matthieu," the Génépi Berger continues the tradition with an unchanged recipe. Using the aromatic génépi plant indigenous to the mountains, the Gauthier siblings ensure that this ancestral recipe continues to thrive. Maceration and distillation processes culminate in a spirit that encapsulates the raw beauty and essence of the Savoie region, offering a unique, refreshing experience to spirits lovers and visitors alike.
