I have been blindtasting wine on a regular basis with a group of friends for mor than thirty years and got more and more fascinated by spirits during the last five years. After exploring r(h)ums and whisk(e)y I finally got into Armagnac and Cognac. I am happy to be able to continue this interesting journey.

French wine, and the concept of terroir, captured my interest early on. Naturally, curiosity took me to spirits, in particular Cognac. Today I'm proud to be a member of the Cognac Expert team managing B2B projects, working on Cognac Expert Originals, and writing bottle reviews for the English Blog. I love to taste anything and everything - rum/rhum, whisky(ey), Armagnac, etc. - but no other spirit grabs my attention quite like Cognac, and all of its subtleties and nuance. Santé !
I have a passion and love for all spirits, but particularly world brandy and world whisk(e)y. The great people at Cognac-Expert have greatly increased my exposure to not only more Cognac, but smaller producers who are doing phenomenal things!! Love you all!! Cheers!! After decades of drinking lots of whisky and not enough cognac, I have spent the last few years drinking quite a lot of both (and some Armagnac and Calvados too). I don’t look for whisky substitutes or comparisons in cognac, they are quite different spirits and should be treated as such. Both are magnificent I think.

Laubade 2001 GotA Armagnac
Deep golden colour with amber nuances. Sweet, fruity nose on dried fruits and flowers, also some heather-honey. Citrus, honey, sweet pears on the palate, freshness of mint - very fine. The finish is medium to long on older sweet wine together with herbal tones.
It’s almost as if we already knew what to expect in our wee tasting glass
Pure ugni blanc here. This baby has just been released, but we know that Pouchégu—another now-defunct estate—produced magnificent things, so it’s almost as if we already knew what to expect in our wee tasting glass. Colour: red amber. Nose: very well integrated, on stewed and preserved yel...
A very fine Armagnac
Dark amber colour. A complex nose on fine sweets (caramel, caramel, milk chocolat...) but als fresher notes of mint and flowers. The palate is well balanced between juicy banana cake and fresh citrus fruits. The finish is medium to long ending on fine tea notes and peppermint.
An Armagnac for bourbon lovers
Amber colour with golden reflexes. Vanilla, glue, ripe pears, milk chocolate mixed with fresher nuances like peppermint and fresh cut grass. On the palate "bourbonish" sweetness with vanilla, coconut milk, raisins and a nice bit of glue. The finish is long and refreshing on peppermint, cconut ...
