History & Information: Darroze Armagnac

Established in the 1960s by Francis Darroze, Maison Darroze has become a paragon of Armagnac craftsmanship, steeped in the culinary and viticultural heritage of France's Southwest - and the whole of France itself. This venerable house prides itself on its unyielding commitment to traditional production techniques and the integrity of its products, carefully curating Armagnacs from over thirty esteemed domains.

At the helm today, Marc Darroze infuses the brand with a vision that respects the legacy of the previous generations, emphasizing the meticulous selection, maturation, and presentation of each distinctive batch of Armagnac. Darroze's ethos—a blend of authenticity, respect for its roots and partners, independence, and the pursuit of sensory delight—underscores its dedication to capturing the essence of Gascony's rich terroir and artisanal prowess.

Les Grands Assemblages Range

In this Les Grands Assemblages range of Armagnacs, Marc Darroze intricately explores the unique complementarity and complexity of his eaux-de-vie. Each blend is meticulously chosen to create a nuanced combination.

The age displayed on each bottle corresponds to the youngest Armagnac in the blend. Through tasting this selection, enthusiasts will encounter distinctly fruity notes in the younger Armagnacs, spices and candied fruits in those aged 30 years, and, in the more mature blends (such as those aged 50 years), flavors of chocolate and coffee emerge. This remarkable spectrum of aromas is what these exceptional blends beckon you to discover.

Textbook Armagnacs of all age ranges!

Darroze Les Grands Assemblages 40 Years Armagnac At the ripe age of 40 years, the character of Armagnac is firmly set. Many of the typical markers of a mature Armagnac are starting to take center stage. The caliber of the oak plays a crucial role, since employing a high-quality barrel correctly contributes to the Armagnac's complexity and delicacy. These qualities become fully recognizable and can be thoroughly evaluated after four decades of interaction with the wood. Step into a world of unp...

Product description
Darroze Les Grands Assemblages 50 Years Armagnac A wise, sophisticated, and mature Armagnac. For Armagnacs of this age, reaching 50 years might signal the moment to altogether stop barrel aging, depending on their freshness and equilibrium. Yet, it remains feasible to employ oak barrel staves that have been stripped of their tannins through prolonged exposure to the eau de vie. Roasted, chocolate, and leather aromas are hallmark traits of eaux de vie of this advanced age. A real pleasure! The ...

Darroze Vintage Armagnacs

This Vintage range represents one of the stand-out features of Maison Darroze, fulfilling Marc Darroze's aspiration to highlight the vintages from various estates with which he maintains long-standing, exclusive relationships: Château de Gaube, Domaine de Bel Air, Domaine Aux Ducs, Domaine de Barigos, among so many others. The purpose of this collection is unequivocally to honor the unique terroir of each cuvée. There is a strict policy against blending Armagnacs from different estates or vintages, and diluting the alcohol content with water is out of the question; any reduction in alcohol level occurs naturally.

Maison Darroze thus celebrates the distinctiveness of each small estate, prominently featuring them on every label within this singular series. Each bottle encapsulates a time, a place, and a person. There is endless diversity on display with this collection.

Note: The single domaines associated with each vintage are subject to change, depending on availability. The vintage will not change, however. Contact us with any questions.
