Description
Award-winning and World Class: Gautier Cognac XO
10 generations of savoir-faire and tradition are culminated in the Gautier XO Cognac, passing their knowledge down from father to son, preserving and enhancing their expertise while adding innovation with every branch of the family tree. This brilliant blend of eaux-de-vie has won countless awards, earning the prestigious title of World's Best Cognac in 2015 at the World Cognac Awards.
What makes Gautier's Cognac stand out from the rest is the cellars used for ageing their Cognacs. Located in a former water mill above the river Osme, the cellars hold a natural humidity, which many say is the secret to producing a richer Cognac, producing round and complex flavors as the Cognac gradually absorbs the tannins from the traditional oak casks they are stored in.
This wonderful XO opens onto a predominantly floral bouquet, with warming toasted notes balanced by sweet vanilla and honey, the distinct "rancio" character permeates between these sumptuous scents. On the palate, the sweet hit of candied fruits immediately awakens the senses, with wood and vanilla rounding out the delicate fruit flavors. Some spices and peppery notes persist on the palate in a long and spicy finish. The finish is lasting and consistent, a true hallmark of a high quality, well-aged Cognac.

How to Serve
This unique Cognac's warming spiced and toasted notes make it a wonderful winter warmer. Its depth of character and rich layered textured can be enjoyed by connoisseurs and young contemporary consumers alike. The Maison Gautier recommend you drink this fabulous XO neat, on ice or equally with a little soda water added.
Presentation of the bottle
This stunning decanter is truly a talking point at any dinner party. It's unique Art Deco style design make it the ideal addition to your drinks shelf or cabinet. The unique shape proudly displays the Cognac's deep, golden color that comes thanks to its lengthy aging process in Limousin casks, perhaps this is why the Cognac's XO age is so boldly blazened onto this stunning decanter.
The bottle equally comes with a quirky, almost book-like case for display, gifting or storage purposes. The wood and teal design on the front is once again a subtle nod to the long maturation process this Cognac has undertaken.

I would buy It again
Has a great smell. Slightly sharp or hot nose when first poured but it quickly fades to spices, vanilla, honey and a bit of caramel. It tastes fantastic with a lot of those spice and honey flavors coming through. The finish is persistent and extremely desirable. Trying this cognac is absolutely worth...
This is not a great Cognac for that price
I can't really understand how the other reviewer got to 5/5 stars for this one. Really? The nose is flar, the mouth is not very interesting, the after taste sharp and rough. And the price is too high for what it is. This is not happening again. Sorry! Not my taste.
About Gautier Cognac
Gautier Cognac is amongst the oldest Cognac houses, with a very unique location. Gautier is based in Aigre on the Osme river, and ages in an 18th century water mill. Aigre is also referred to as the "Little Venice" of Charente. The proximity to the water and the resulting humidity and temperature in the cellars gives the cognac a recognizable taste. Maison Gautier unites ancient history with a modern view of the Cognac market. Cognac Gautier caters to both professional Cognac connoisseurs and aficionados as well as younger consumers that like to experiment with Cognac and try out new and trendy cocktails.
