Description
Louis Royer VS Cognac: The Balance is in the Blend
This well-rounded and floral expression has been blended using a proportion of very old eaux-de-vies to give an elegant and complex Cognac. Louis Royer VS Cognac is the youngest of the producer’s portfolio, combining eaux-de-vie from all six growing regions of Cognac, aged in both Tronçais and Limousin oak for a minimum of two years.
Louis Royer had already worked for many years as a cellar master for other Cognac houses when he finally decided to start his own company in 1853. He decided to settle in the town of Jarnac, perfectly located by the River Charente, and chose the bee as his emblem - a symbol of hard work and efficiency. Since the beginning, this humble Cognac house has chosen to use grapes from all six crus, never limiting themselves to one style or growing region. This has allowed the family to adapt and overcome the challenges of difficult years, and five generations later they are still going strong.
Today the company still embrace traditional values, but always look to the future: their high-end bottling plant, built in 2003, has allowed them to double their production. It seems the busy bees at Louis Royer are not ready to rest quite yet.
Presentation of the Bottle
The Louis Royer VS Cognac is presented in an elegant, slightly tapered bottle with a slim neck, embossed with the producer’s signature bee emblem. The champagne-colored label and foil perfectly match the presentation box.
How to Enjoy Louis Royer VS Cognac
This versatile VS Cognac can be enjoyed in a number of ways: neat, on ice, or with a mixer, it’s the perfect ingredient for a great evening. The producer recommends trying it with tonic water, but we also like to mix it in a Jarnac Lemonade:
- 2 oz Louis Royer VS Cognac
- ½ oz Honey
- ½ oz Lemon juice
- Soda water to top
- Lemon wedge
Shake the Cognac, honey and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker until cold. Strain into a tall glass, add ice, top with soda water and garnish with a lemon wedge.
