Description
A Perfectly Balanced Vintage from the Petite Champagne: Prunier 1989 Cognac
A stunning single-year Cognac from one of the oldest houses in the region, the Prunier Vintage 1989 Petite Champagne is selected from one, standout harvest in a historic year. This Cognac is just over 30 years old - and has been aged for a lengthy amount of time, as a Petite Champagne Cognac should be.
For over two decades, Maison Prunier has offered a series of limited edition “cask strength” Cognac, in just a few hundred bottles per Vintage lot. It is bottled at natural cask proof, making for a naturally gorgeous Cognac from one of the most prestigious cognac crus.
The legend of the Petite Champagne is one of light, floral and lengthy eaux-de-vie with a delectable rancio. It’s really all down to nature. The chalk-rich soil has been deposited following years of fossilization, and it occupies an enviable position near the Atlantic coast. The maritime climate, and sunsoaked vineyards make for very fine grapes indeed.
Although Cognac is usually made by blending together different elements of eaux-de-vie, a Millésimé or Vintage Cognac places its trust in the natural order of things: relying solely on the weather, the quality of the soil, and the time spent aging in French oak casks.
The quality of the cellar in Gimeux contributes to a Prunier Vintage that excels above all others. They do their best to respect local traditions, using Charentais methods established generations beforehand.
In fact, the house of Prunier extends back 11 generations in the region.
