Description
In the spring of 2021, Malternative got to know this great cognac house and its qualities thanks to a visit led by Mr. Vaudon, cellar master and owner. Pierre Vaudon left a deep impression on them, especially his enormous knowledge, drive, eye for detail and transparency were unseen for them.
Even though Malternative Belgium has not been around that long, they share the same values. They are therefore very proud and honored to be able to present their 17th release in collaboration with this renowned cognac house.
Lot 48 is a cognac coming from a dame-jeanne that was preserved in glass to be kept at its peak, not because it threatened to reach the minimum limit of 40%. This Grande Champagne from Verrières at 49.2% cask strength is one of those exceptional cognacs that you can very rarely find.
The ravages of time have given it so much complexity and finesse, while maintaining a solid body. Just think of ripe pineapple, raisins, quince and peach, the freshness of bergamot. Licorice that raves about light herbs from its own vegetable garden.
About the producer:
François Voyer's 28 hectares of vineyards are located in the Grande Champagne region, the Premier Cru of Cognac, known for producing eaux-de-vie with aromatic power and qualities suitable for long aging. François Voyer Cognac is a family run Cognac house that is passionate about every detail of production. François Voyer was handed over to his cellar master - Pierre Vaudon - to perpetuate the identity. Their cognacs are served in some of the most renowned restaurants and have won awards in prestigious international competitions. The Voyer family vineyards are located in Verrières and Ambleville and have been producing cognac since the 1870s.
Their range is classic, with a range of young expressions, but also exceptionally old assemblies and vintage bottles. The house Voyer nurtures traditional knowledge and has tremendous attention to detail. We find this house of very high quality constant in the typical flavors that come through the whole range. Please keep up the good work Pierre & team so we can continue to enjoy these exceptional cognacs!
