Description
ABK6 Aged Collection 16 Year Old Cognac
The ABK6 Aged Collection is a unique and exclusive series of exceptional cognacs crafted from a carefully selected small number of casks by ABK6's Maître de Chai, chosen for their incomparable aromas. This very limited collection has been bottled at different strengths to bring out the full expression of these prodigious cognacs.
The Aged Collection 16 Years Old blends the finest eaux-de-vie from the Petite Champagne and Fins Bois terroirs. Batch N°001 — only 958 bottles produced.
Terroir
The eaux-de-vie come from two exceptional estates: the Domaine de Chez Maillard (cru Fins Bois), with soils of 50% hard Jurassic limestone (groies) and 50% soft Cretaceous limestone (groies de champagne), and the Domaine du Maine Drilhon (cru Petite Champagne), with its chalky Cretaceous soils. Both vineyards are planted exclusively with 100% Ugni Blanc, average vine age 40 years.
Production
Vinification: On-site alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks.
Distillation: Double distillation on lees in copper Charentais alembics of 16 and 25HL, with both olive-head and onion-head chapiteaux.
Aging: Aged first in new French oak casks for 6 to 8 months, then transferred to roux and old casks for several years. The 400-litre barrels are French Limousin-type oak with coarse grain.
Assembly: A selection of crus from Petite Champagne and Fins Bois.
Estate & Recognition
Domaines Francis Abécassis (DFA), with 460 hectares of vines, is one of the largest independent estates in the Cognac appellation. Named IWSC Producer of the Year 2019 in London, the estate also holds HVE 3 (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certification for its commitment to sustainable viticulture.

Intense
The palate did in the back of the tongue forever.... Candied fruits lively fruits the smell is intense, no barrel maybe very little. Well now that it has lingered there after a while from my second sip, it's in the finish. It almost tastes like freshly chopped wood, smells if that makes any sense...
About ABK6 Cognac
Owned by Francis Abécassis (a homonym of ABK6 when pronounced in French), ABK6 Cognac is a relatively young brand based in the Domaine de Chez Maillard near the village of Claix. The brand is known for its choice to produce single estate Cognacs, with its eaux-de-vie being carefully selected from their 220 hectares of land, specifically for their aromatic intensity and indulgence. The label has shaken up the industry by introducing a young and modern spirit to a traditional drink, without compromising on quality. The company is now one of the largest independent producers in Cognac, and also owns the brands Leyrat, Reviseur and Grands Domaines. Attention to detail is applied to every single aspect of production at ABK6, with sustainable growing methods, Charentaise distillation and precise blending. It’s no wonder the group has taken home over 60 awards in recent years.
