ABK6 Cognac

Owned by Francis Abécassis, ABK6 is a young cognac house based at the Domaine de Chez Maillard near the village of Claix. Its 250 hectares of vineyards produce high quality eaux-de-vie, which are used to blend this contemporary cognac. The goal of this label is to introduce a young and modern spirit to the traditional drink and at the same time value the quality. Not only its name, an abbreviation of the owner’s name, but also its blog, facebook and twitter pages show the target group of the company. ABK6 owns its own brand as well as the brands Leyrat and and Réviseur. Together, the three brands of the company have been awarded over 60 awards in the past years.

This Cognac presents some slight raisin notes on the nose, in the mouth elegant and quite solid.

A very sweet and honey dominated nose and palate, but still a warming slight punch of cognac.

Tasting review by ABK6: Old gold mahogany in colour The nose displays a great aromatic richness with notes of wood, spice, liquorice, orange peel, and dried figs. Exceptional and well balanced aromatic strength with a combination of hazelnut, walnut, cedar wood, then candied fruits. This XO is distinguished by its great length.

Golden colour, complex nose with some round, fruity hints - also some wood woody notes. The finish is round, dominated by some nice wooden notes and vanilla.

A beautiful old gold color, with a nose dominated by fruity, pastry notes.  The palate has a good structure, with a long, extended finish during which delightful notes of oak come through.

Some tasting notes, review on ABK6 Ice cognac: As it's a Cognac specifically blended to be savoured on ice, it opens a whole new range of taste: Some nuts and slight vanilla, and as the ice melts you can taste fruits, it opens up the palate with white peach and orange, later a bit of lemon and mint.

      History of ABK6

Founded in 2005 by Francis Abécassis, ABK6 is one of the youngest cognac producers in the industry. Considering it has only been in business for such a short amount of time, the company takes a strong position in cognac production and distribution. The brands the Domaines ABK6 are producing, namely ABK6, Leyrat and Réviseur are all single estate cognacs, which means that they are all grown, harvested, fermented, distilled, matured, blended and bottled at the estate. This guarantees the highest quality control and shows that the company philosophy is shaped by wanting to produce top-of-the-line cognac. Francis Abecassis decided to get his daughter on board as the CEO of the company when she was only 23. This shows an innovative approach and trust in modern business and marketing strategies.

      ABK6 Today

The company is headed by the young and ambitious Elodie Abécassis, daughter of the founder and owner of ABK6, Francis Abécassis. With her witty knowledge of social networking media such as facebook and twitter, blogs and newsletters, she has managed to turn the company into a contemporary model for a forward-looking business. The products have modern design with a fresh and international appearance. ABK6 also introduced a "Cognac Club", which allows privileged access to special edition bottles, reduced prices and private tours given by the cellar master among other things. And recently, they introduced an online shop for buyers from abroad. All in all, one can see that the young history of the cognac house allows business to develop more flexibly and market-oriented.

      News, Products, Awards

Most recently, ABK6 received the Gold medal award for Excellende in Craftmanship at the International Spirit Challenge 2010.

ABK6 take part in a large number of fairs and conventions to distribute their products, such as the Salon Gourmets & Vins Saint-Malo, Salon du Chocolat a Angouleme, Salon CE Paris, Whisky Live as well as the famous annual cognac auction La Part Des Anges in Cognac.
