Description
Ordonneau Domaine de la Grolette VSOP Ordonneau Cognac
The youngest quality of Cognac that is produced by this artisan Cognac house is the Ordonneau VSOP Cognac. A large number of the eaux-de-vie that have gone into creating this fine blend have been aged between 25 and 30 years, although typically their VSOP blends are aged for about 10 years. It is officially labeled as a VSOP Cognac quality, but in fact, the complexity of the blend means that it has a fullness and round body that you would usually find in an older Cognac.
The eaux-de-vie in the Ordonneau Very Superior Old Pale Cognac descend from the highly sought-after Borderies terroir, which is the smallest of all of the Cognac crus covering 4,000 hectares. The aroma is very specific thanks to its position on a plateau, soaking up all of the sunlight that it can get. The nutty, violet aroma in the Cognac is typical of this area of land in the Cognac region.
Cognac Ordonneau in the Borderies region
Produced by the third generation of wine producers from this artisan house, the Ordonneau VSOP. The Ordonneau estate is made up of 27 hectares of vines in the Borderies region. They are therefore considered as the experts of this fine cru. Each harvest, they collect around 3000 hectoliters of grape wine which are then distilled in two Charentais stills to 40% ABV throughout the winter and spring. They are then left to mature in French oak barrels, and finally blended. The Borderies Cognacs are indeed highly sought after.
How to drink
It is a great staple bottle to own, and can be enjoyed both neat or after dinner as a digestif. It is even a great choice with a mixer or over ice. We encourage you to try different ways of enjoying it to relish the full breadth of the taste experience.
