Description
Godet 24 Years Old Single Cask Cognac (1999 Vintage)
Introducing Cognac Godet’s first foray into single cask Cognac: Godet Single Cask Spring 2024 Edition (Petite Champagne, 24 Years Old). It’s a little known fact that Cognac Godet is one of Cognac’s founding houses, with only Cognac Augier preceding it. Founded in 1588 in La Rochelle, France, by Dutch merchant Bonaventure Godet, the Godet family has been involved in Cognac production across fifteen generations. Today, the Godet house remains by the sea in La Rochelle, operated by the 15th generation of the Godet family - brothers Jean Edouard, Cyril, and Maxime. They continue to honor their history by crafting Cognacs that are steadfastly traditional but with a vision forward.
The Godet range of Cognac is quite complete, featuring separate lines of Cognac called Moderns (mixologie), The Roots of Cognac (traditional), Grands Classics (discovery), and Super Blends (prestige). They also occasionally do one-offs like the blended Godet Hors d’Age. The closest existing product they have to a single cask Cognac is the Single Vintage Cognacs, but those can be blends of the same vintage and see slight reductions.
Consequently, the Godet brothers thought the intensity and singularity of a Single Cask Cognac needed to see the light of day. The first release is this Spring 2024 Edition, which we’re told will be followed by a Fall 2024 Edition of a different and older Cognac.
