Description
Extra Frapin Grande Champagne 70cl
Behold, a stunning ode to the Premier Cru, the first growing area of the Cognac region. The Frapin Extra Grande Champagne Cognac is the product of having delved deep into the family cellars to retrieve the most precious of eaux-de-vie for a spectacular blend that is the most highly coveted cuvee from the house. It contains a combination of eaux-de-vie up to 40 and 50 years in age, and has therefore been aged wonderfully over a series of decades. It has also cinched itself a number of awards internationally, and is a fine Grande Champagne Cognac.
This terroir in particular is famous for producing high quality Cognacs, due to the fine, limestone soil that is high in chalk content. With the change in terrain dating back millions of years, and layers of marine sedimentary deposits, the Grande Champagne is home to the best in Cognac grapes. The Frapin Grande Champagne Extra is subtle and complex, and is a testament to this cru with its particularly long finish. It is a wonderful after dinner drink and is the epitome of finesse. The Frapin Cognac maison are a single estate family brand, who can retrace their family’s vine growing roots back to 1270.
How to enjoy the Extra Frapin Grande Champagne
This particular Frapin Extra Cognac is best enjoyed neat, but also with a dessert. The long finish and supple taste means that it goes well with the likes of creme brulee and tarte tatin. It is at 40% ABV and comes in a 700ml bottle. It also exists as 50 ml bottle, if you want to give it a try. The number of bottles is limited, and individually numbered. The decanter itself is particularly spectacular with its retro character and contemporary disc-shape. With a golden cap, it takes inspiration from the int jewelry craft.

About Frapin Cognac
The Frapin family has been around the Southwest of France since 1270. Always active in the domain of winegrowing, they specialized in distillation much later on and have since continued to stand strong throughout twenty one generations! The estate owns 340 hectares of land entirely in the Grande Champagne area, of which 240 are planted with vines. Frapin’s home in the beautiful castle Fontpinot in the town of Segonzac. The most famous family member was the 16th century author Francois Rabelais, after whom a prestigious Frapin Cognac bottle is named: The Cuvee Rabelais, rather fittingly, the house of Frapin is also the only Cognac estate granted permission to call itself a Chateau within the entire Grande Champagne cru. Alongside many other accolades, Frapin was the first Cognac producer to invent a multi-vintage blend, combining vintages of different years to create the perfect taste.
