Description
An XO blend of Grande Champagne and Fins Bois Cognac
Pierre Vaudon, Cellar Master of Francois Voyer for 15 years has created his very own bottle straight from his own vineyard. Located in Echallat, he has 60 hectares of vineyards from both the Grande Champagne and Fins Bois Cru. The Vaudon XO Cognac is made with Ugni Blanc grapes and a blend of 80% Grande Champagne, and 20% Fins Bois. The elegance of the Premier Cru delightfully combines with the fruitier and sweeter eaux-de-vie of the Fins Bois. This is a delicate and sweet Cognac, with a typical Fins Bois taste.
Aged in tight and loose grain oak casks, he uses both new and old barrels to age his Cognacs before blending them. The Vaudon family can retrace their distilling history back to 1771, and have produced exceptional Cognacs such as the 1811 Vintage which won a gold medal in the 1913 fair. He uses an old style of distillation on the lees, giving a rich and elegant character.

How to serve the Vaudon Extra Old
The freshness is present, and the alcohol still creamy. Thanks to its character it is a perfect aperitif or digestif. Serve it on the rocks with some noix de Saint Jacques, king shrimp or to accompany a dessert of cheesecake, or a fresh fruit’s salad. This is a Cognac for both amateur and seasoned Cognac drinkers to enjoy.

Very impressing!
This was cognac number 1 from the 2020 Advent Calendar. I honestly never heard of this cognac house before today, but I was very impressed. It was a great cognac, very easy drinking and enjoyed by both my wife and I. The nose was sweet with a lot of floral notes. I did get lilac but not the blackberry...
