Description
A Masterful Multi Cru from Cognac’s Whizkid
Vaudon XO Multicru Cognac is a beautiful blend of pristine eaux de vie from the Grande Champagne and Fins Bois terroir. It is the work of the ‘gifted child of Cognac,’ Pierre Vaudon, who is well known for his traditional distillation techniques and philosophy of simplicity. With XO age quality, the youngest grape variety included in the blend is at least ten years old, guaranteeing impact and fullness.
The Vaudon house has a long, proud history with Cognac. The family’s experience with distillation dates back all the way to 1771, but it was Pierre who decided to establish an official Cognac house. Alongside his namesake brand, he also heads up the François Voyer estate, proving the staying power of his passion. He uses an old style of distillation on the lees, which ensures richness and depth of character.
It should come as no surprise, then, that Vaudon XO Multicru Cognac is a delightful blend. On the nose, it arrives gently, with fresh, brisk aromas starting the show thanks to floral notes and splashes of citrus. Spices join the mix next, before notes of almond and honey round out the flavorful, fresh bouquet. On the palate, it is seductive and complex, with an unexpected but ultimately satisfying balance of creamy and fresh.
This lively Cognac is recommended on the rocks as the ideal companion to a nice dinner or dessert– fresh fruits or a cheesecake would complement its character perfectly.
And Vaudon XO Multicru Cognac is easy on the eye, too. A rich copper color full of allure, it sits in a classy Cognacaise bottle with a matching copper seal and elegant cream labeling.
Ultimately, this is a Cognac from a highly experienced, undeniably passionate cellar master whose dedication to simplicity promises to reap rewards for Cognac connoisseurs and novices alike.
About Vaudon Cognac
The Vaudon grounds are composed of 60 hectares with the main estate being located in Fins Bois, the largest of all the Cognac growth regions. Vaudon produces both single cru Fins Bois Cognacs and ‘multicru’ blends of these with the neighbouring Grande Champagne.
Pierre Vaudon, Maître de Chai and also owner of Maison Francois Voyer, is responsible for the Vaudon family estate. The family’s distilling origins can be traced back as far as 1771, and they have always produced outstanding Cognacs, even winning a gold medal for their 1811 vintage Cognac in 1913.
