Eye: Dark copper hue with shades of mahogany.

Nose: A rather sweet and elegant bouquet with notes of plums and florals and an undertone of delicious spiced aromas such as pepper, liquorice and vanilla. A mellow oak scent is also present.

Palate: Wonderful balance and roundness in the palate, with supple flavors of apricot and cocoa, a slight dryness but not overpoweringly so. The finish is persistent with the aromas remaining exceptionally long in the glass.

Birkedal Hartmann XO Cognac

Birkedal Hartmann XO has been created using a blend of eaux-de-vie from the premier cru of Grande Champagne and the most exclusive of the regions, Borderies. The eaux-de-vie is aged for between 12 and 17 years in Limousin oak casks before being meticulously blended. The combination and the considerable time it is allowed to mature, gives the Cognac an elegant complexity of aromas and flavors.

The Birkedal Hartmann Cognac House was founded in 1887 by Halfdan Birkedal Hartmann. It quickly grew a prestigious reputation, not only amongst the French-British families who were well established in Cognac, but also across the globe, particularly in North and South America. The House is still managed by the family today, four generations on, and has achieved significant accolades, such as being the sole supplier of VSOP Cognacs to the House of Lords in England.

Birkedal Hartmann is a rare example of a successful cognac house that today collaborates with producers and master blenders rather than producing its own eaux-de-vie. This allows Birkedal Hartmann to focus on modern marketing and distribution strategies, as the production is entirely outsourced. This does not however imply that the tradition of the house, founded in the late 1800s, has been neglected. On the contrary: With its extremely smart marrying of traditional and contemporary culture, the cognac house Birkedal Hartmann managed to be amongst the first to launch a product with US celebrity rapper Ludacris. The cognac called CONJURE has shown to be a huge success in the US market, positioning Birkedal Hartmann as one of the most innovative cognac companies today.
