Tasting review

Tasting review:

Eye: Hypnotizing golden amber with intense flashes of deep mahogany

Nose: Subtle and fruity, it teases with notes of toffee and black cherry, black tea, and cigar box

Palate: The aromas continue, evolving into black cherry jam, marmalade, vanilla, and toffee. There are hints of oak, black pepper, toasted almonds, and spices. The finish is long, and ultimately satisfying

Description

The A. de Fussigny Fine Champagne XO Cognac is a wonderful example of a truly good XO. Naturally, such a great blend is a multiple award winner, and it deserves every single one of them. It's a Fine Champagne blend, meaning at least half of the eaux-de-vie within come from the premier terroir, Grande Champagne. The rest are from its neighboring terroir, Petite Champagne.

This is a superbly versatile XO to own. When enjoyed neat or with a dash of water (or even over ice if you’re feeling adventurous), it skips effortlessly through a spectrum of flavors, moving from fruity to spice in an almost miraculous manner. It’s also presented in a delightful bottle, with clean lines and handsome good looks. The perfect accompaniment to chocolate or caramel desserts, and also pairs well with a good cigar.

Awards:

2011 San Francisco World Spirits Competition – Gold Medal

CWSA – Double Gold Medal

2015 Cognac Masters - Master
