Description
Refined and refreshing: A de Fussigny’s Fins Bois VSOP Cognac
It is well known amongst Cognac connaisseurs that Fins Bois is both the largest and most surprising growing region, producing supple and round eaux-de-vie that age quickly. Thanks to the variation of subsoils (ranging from limestone to red clay), the Cognac’s from this region are often complex in character, and this Fussigny Fins Bois VSOP Cognac is no different.
Located on the banks of the Charente river, this estate's distillery and cellars date back to 1814, rich in a history of “gabarres” passing by on barges, transporting and trading the precious eaux-de-vie and wine that render this region famous.
Their more than 200-year-old cellars allow the ageing process to take place in a humid environment, offering a unique and high quality to Fussigny’s produce.
A typical Fins Bois Cognac releases aromas of freshly pressed grapes, delivering a fresh and fruity drinking experience with every sip.
This particular VSOP is powerful on the nose, with the traditional elements of fleur de vigne, pressed grapes alongside aromas of apples, pear and plums.
The second nose involves a balance of buttery vanilla with earthy notes of oak, spiced nuts and dried fruit, with a hint of licorice. This delicate balancing act is then transferred onto the palate with the same fruity notes of apples and pears, alongside candied plums, spices, vanilla and chocolate.
A smooth and lengthy finish round off this shining example of a superior Fins Bois blend.
How to Enjoy
This VSOP is best served neat or over ice in a traditional snifter, this refreshing Cognac can be drank all year round thanks to its fresh and fruity notes of grape, apple, pear and plum.
