Description
Setting Sail: Landy Private Collection Cognac
Part of the ‘Famous Ship Collection’, this blend contains Grande Champagne Cognac which has been matured in French oak for a minimum of 25 years. Landy Private Collection Cognac showcases a stunning balance of aromas and flavors that perfectly express the elegance of the Grande Champagne terroir, also known as the Premier Cru of Cognac. Produced in a limited quantity each year, these releases are composed of only the rarest eaux-de-vie and are crafted by the Cellar Master according to a recipe that dates back over 300 years.
Part of the larger company Cognac Ferrand, Landy was founded in 1989 as a collaboration between Alexandre Gabriel and a family of traditional winegrowers in the Charente. Cognac Landy was created with the philosophy of bringing a breath of fresh air into the industry but also respecting traditional methods; for this reason, it is produced in the age-old fashion without the use of mass-production techniques. By selecting only the best grapes, distilling with care and blending distinct eaux-de-vie from some of Cognac’s finest regions, each bottle ends up being a true expression of the land it came from.
Presentation of the Bottle
The decanter is truly a work of art - a handcrafted glass sculpture of a ship, created using traditional glass-working skills, displayed within a bulbous decanter. It's a unique piece of artwork that has been specially commissioned to reflect the refined qualities of the Cognac housed within. Finally, the bottle is topped with a round crystal stopper and placed on a mahogany base, bearing a plaque engraved with the ship’s name. This is definitely one that will appeal to Cognac collectors and naval historians alike.
About Landy Cognac
Cognac Landy is part of the larger company Cognac Ferrand. This relatively new house, which was established in 1989, was a collaboration between Alexandre Gabriel and a traditional wine growing family in the Charente. Thus, Cognac Ferrand, and therefore Cognac Landy too, was created with the philosophy of bringing new life back into the industry and production of cognac. Because of this, Cognac Landy is produced in the age old fashion without utilizing mass production techniques.
