Tasting review

Eye: Old gold with ruby reflections.

Nose: Full of nuances, slightly floral, slightly honeyed, slightly peppery.

Palate: Open to attack, then rounded mouthfeel with flavors of white fruits before a final pleasantly wooded finish.

Description

Joan Brisson XO Cognac: A Taste of Home in the Fins Bois

Joan Brisson XO Cognac, made from grapes harvested from the renowned Fins Bois cru, boasts a stringent maturation process with the eaux-de-vie in this blend aged in French oak for a minimum of 10 years. There is no doubt that Joan Brisson XO Cognac provides an outstanding example of a Fins Bois XO, with its floral complexity typical of this terroir.

Joan Brisson Cognac is a small, family-run Cognac producer located in the small town of Matha in the Charente Maritime, 12 miles north of Cognac in the delimited area of the Fins Bois appellation. The family vineyards stretch from the Fins Bois to Sainte-Sévère and around Saint-Sulpice de Cognac in the Borderies appellation. Ranging from Joan Brisson V.S. to a Vieille Réserve, Brisson Cognac offers a solid range of Cognacs for competitive prices. The charming family estate is surrounded by a botanical garden full of exotic plants, open to visitors throughout the year. Everything about this diminutive Cognac producer is charming and genuine - ask for a tour at Joan Brisson, and you are likely to have a family member personally show you around their home.

Presentation of the Bottle

How to Serve Joan Brisson XO Cognac

This Cognac is best enjoyed as a digestif with a drop of water to fully bring out the most delicate aromas. After pouring, allow your Cognac to rest for 30 seconds, letting the flavours concentrate and fully develop before taking a sip.

The best I have tried

Nose of star anise and lavender, licorice and coffee in the mouth. Smooth no strong aftertaste. Presented simply but elegantly.
