Nose: Powerful just like the palate.

Palate: Powerful combining subtle oak and grape tones, underlined by deep notes of caramel and sweet spices.

The warmth from the Cognac is well complimented by a gentle sweetness and syrupy fruit aromas.

Mauxion 2000 Vintage Pineau des Charentes

In the year 2000, the esteemed Mondory family, renowned for three generations as vine growers, winemakers, and distillers in the famed Petite Champagne appellation of Cognac, embarked on a singular journey. They crafted their very first Pineau des Charentes, a sublime testament to their expertise. Yet, for reasons unknown, this exceptional batch never found a buyer, causing the barrel to become an almost forgotten treasure, tucked away in the depths of their cellar. The Mondorys never made another Pineau.

Over the course of 22 years, this tucked-away gem underwent a remarkable transformation. With time and the gentle sacrifice of the "Angel Share," the liquid within matured, metamorphosing into a nectar so exquisite, it can only be described as liquid gold.

Upon learning of this spectacular wine, the Cognac house Mauxion promptly acquired the entire barrel, understanding the rarity and value of its contents. And to give it the reverence it rightfully deserves, they bottled it under the esteemed Mauxion selection label. Presented in a 750ml bottle, this Mauxion 2000 Vintage Pineau des Charentes, having been aged for over two decades in a 132-gallon oak cask, is not just a drink, but a journey through time and a testament to the art of winemaking.

About Mauxion Selection Cognac

The origin of the Mauxion family dates back to 1575 when Pierre Mauxion was born in the village of Houlette. Today the estate is still home to the Mauxion family after thirteen generations. Antoine Mauxion was the first of the family to produce eaux-de-vie, back in 1743, and since then ten generations have followed in his footsteps. Today the house of Mauxion Selection continues to embrace original traditions with regards to caring for the vineyard and producing high class, quality eaux-de-vie.

Uniquely, Mauxion Selection offers a range of single cru expressions, available a range of sizes. All of the Cognac produced by Mauxion Selection originate from the prestigious terroirs of Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fins Bois. To preserve the flavor of their eaux-de-vie, Mauxion Selection Cognac is bottled at cask strength without any blending or reduction; allowing the eaux-de-vie to develop with exceptional complexity and depth. Whilst the attentive selection process may mean that quantity is limited, it ensures a Cognac of unrivalled quality, every time.

Visit Mauxion Sélection Cognac: The House of Mauxion Selection would be delighted to welcome you in a discovery of their vineyards and in tasting their products. Be sure to contact them directly to arrange a time in advance of your arrival.
