The family-run Cognac house of André Petit is based in Berneuil and is proud to have maintained its traditional harvesting and production methods that have been passed down through generations. Jacques Petit, a master of his trade and grandson of the founder, now runs the house.

He loves to create new Cognacs. And even more, he loves working with young people who are passionate about Cognac. His latest project combines just that: Jacques' experience and know-how with the carefree spirit of Marvin Game - a young musician from Germany.

Together, the two have developed a Cognac that brings together hip hop and the complex notes of a well-aged cognac: OUI VIE.

This is an 18 year old XO Cognac. Maître Jacques Petit has created this masterpiece from vine to bottling - a lively brandy with notes of hazelnut, a touch of citrus and vanilla.

Because this is a Cognac that has been handcrafted artisanally and patiently from the grape to the bottle, it is limited to only 1400 bottles. Each individual bottle is hand numbered.

May we introduce Jacques Petit, an accomplished oenologist and a passionate Cognac producer from the idyllic village of Berneuil, just next to Barbezieux. Jacques' estate is located in the Bons Bois cru. This covers an area of approximately 9000 hectares, where Jacques has planted all his vines.

He is not only our neighbor, but also the brilliant mind behind the traditional Cognac brand André Petit. This brand, whose roots go back to 1850, is now run as a one-man operation. Jacques took over the family business from his father in the 1980s and has since worked tirelessly to shape the distinctive taste and style of André Petit.

Jacques' background and knowledge are impressive. He is a graduate of the prestigious Oenology School in Bordeaux. With ease, Jacques derives each step of the Cognac-making process in chemical formulas. His deep-rooted passion for wine and spirits began with his early involvement in his father's Cognac production. Jacques takes care of every step of the process - from working in the vineyards, to hand-harvesting the grapes, to vinification, to distilling and marketing the Cognac.

The tradition and the methods inherited from his grandparents live on in Jacques. He is one of the few who still harvest their grapes by hand. But it is not only tradition that drives Jacques. He loves working with young people, is always open to new projects, and is known for continually experimenting. Thanks to his education and curiosity, he has developed innovative spirits like "So Yang" and knows exactly how to create unique flavor profiles.

He is always open to new challenges and bringing the world of Cognac and its diversity closer to people. His years of experience combined with his scientific approach makes him the perfect Cognac producer for OUI VIE XO Cognac.

I make cognacs that I like to drink. And if someone has a problem with it, they're missing out and they're out of luck.

His humor, his passion and his deep connection with Berneuil make him a real personality in the world of Cognac.

Marvin Game

Perhaps some of you know Marvin Game. A young musician, media person and entrepreneur. Marvin became very well known through the Youtube format "HOTBOX". He is one of the best connected people within the German hip hop scene, both to well known greats and younger, up and coming artists.

Marvin joined us, Cognac Expert, on a journey to the Cognac region to unlock the secrets of Cognac production and together with Jacques and us, find the perfect blend for OUI VIE.

The desire to produce a Cognac in cooperation with Jacques and us is obvious. Hip hop and Cognac are symbols for creative processes. Cognac is therefore ideally suited as the essence of modern hip hop, culture of celebration, enjoyment and success.

Again and again the reference to Cognac appears with some German HipHop rappers. So also with Marvin himself, who released the album "Hennessy & Autotune" in 2016.

From the soil of Berneuil into the glass

Marvin joined us in deep France to get to know the people, the region and the distillate, and to blend a Cognac with an independent winemaker and distiller.

On our trip, we visited several Cognac producers who gave us deep insights into their production processes and let us taste their most precious eaux-de-vie. Well-known producers like Hennessy, but also small, unknown producers like Le Maine Giraud and André Petit were visited.

Finally, it was the enchanting vineyard in Berneuil and Jacques Petit himself who convinced Marvin to dive deeper into the world of Cognac together with Jacques.

Jacques and Marvin are an unlikely duo, but that's exactly why the pairing works so well. Jacques loves experimenting, Jacques loves working with young people, and Jacques, of course, loves opening the doors to the Cognac world to newcomers. And that is just not only the finished product, but starts in the vineyard.

And so Jacques took Marvin through the complete world of Cognac, from the vine, to the "Marriage" of the Cognac, to the bottling.

But it still took a little time until bottling. Together with Marvin and Jacques, we tasted many Cognacs that had been stored in the depths of Jacques' cellar for several years and selected some that immediately appealed to us.

Jacques then visited us at Logis de Beaulieu. There, Jacques and Marvin created the final blend together. The perfect mix of experience and Marvin's fresh impressions from his first visit to the region. Over several days, eaux-de-vie and resulting different blends were tasted until Marvin decided on the final Cognac.
