Dolmen de Pierre Folle

Dolmen de Pierre Folle

Dolmen de Pierre Folle is a hidden gem deep in the Bons Bois region of Cognac which we discovered by coincidence. Produced by Jeano, this vibrant Cognac offers an explosion of flavors at a unique 45% abv. At just 18 years of age, he dove completely into the family Cognac business, after having assisted his father since the age of twelve. Craftsmanship runs deep in this family. Jeano cherishes the process of creating a product from start to finish. Cognac clearly is his uncontested passion.

General Facts & The Domain Today:

Located in the rustic heart of the Cognac region near Beaulieu, the Dolmen de Pierre Folle estate is a testament to authenticity and tradition. The signature Cognac, nestled deep within the Bons Bois cru, is the brainchild of the enigmatic Jeano, whose journey into Cognac-making began as a teenager. Following a tragic loss, he single-handedly shouldered the family legacy from 1965. Preserving family treasures like Cognac bottles from 1960, Jeano's passion for the craft remains unparalleled.

The art of Cognac-making is ingrained in the fabric of the family, with Jeano's 39-year-old son now steering the ship and his wife, dedicatedly working in the cellar. The three of them, aided by a handful of machines, manage the intricate process of transforming grapes into the celebrated beverage.

Adding to the estate's charm is a historical marvel - the Dolmen. These ancient Druid stones, dating back to 4500 BC and weighing a whopping 30 tons, have been a part of the family legacy since 1929. Acquired for 30,000 Franc by Jeano's great-grandfather, these magnetically charged stones, boasting a magnetism of 26%, draw curious visitors from regions like Brittany and Bordeaux.

While the Dolmen stands as a testament to the region's history, the Cognac and Pineau produced here are a tribute to generational expertise. Interestingly, despite the vast knowledge he possesses, Jeano is mostly self-taught, having attended a solitary official tasting course.

A visit to "Dolmen de Pierre Folle" offers more than just a tasting experience. It's a journey through time, narrated by the affable Jeano, the family pets Racaille and Mimi, and the enchanting taste of the Bons Bois Cognac.
