Eye: Golden robe.

Nose: Fine nose after a few minutes of aeration, you achieve the desired aromas of hawthorn, honey, croissant and golden caramel.

Palate: The palate is frank and straight, a little more classic: notes of fresh grapes, almond tart with pears and prunes. The finish is harmonious and pleasant, typical of the Petite Champagne with a mineral-like quality and its age.

A 1982 Petite Champagne Vintage from the Grosperrin Cognac de Collection

Like the Grande Champagne vintage, it comes from a winemaker who became a trader and wanted to buy and sell special Cognacs selected for their quality alone. The Grosperrin Vintage 1982 Petite Champagne Cognac has a high aromatic intensity due to being matured for nearly 4 decades. The Grosperrin Millésime 1982 Cognac is one of a series of Vintage cognacs produced by what is reputedly the oldest cognac house in existence (with roots that can be traced back to the 17th century).  

A complex delight - the aromas and tastes just keep on evolving throughout the tasting experience.

It has been distilled over lees, and is a fascinating bottling due to its unique snapshot of the Petite Champagne. The high chalk content of this terroir makes for fantastic eaux-de-vie.

Presentation

A simple bottle like the others of the Cognac de Collection, and bottled at 46.3% ABV.

Definitely, a Cognac to keep for those special occasions - and when you have time to savor and enjoy what can only be described as a rollercoaster taste experience... enjoy it neat.

О Grosperrin Cognac

The independent Cognac house of Grosperrin is a relatively new one in the region, having only been established in 1999 by its founder, Jean Grosperrin. Grosperrin is based in Saintes which sits between the terroirs of Fins Bois and Borderies and it is today run by Jean’s son, Guilhelm, who took over in 2004 at just 23 years old.

Guilhelm’s mission is to discover producers all across the region in order to create truly unique Cognacs from the six crus. This vision was made possible by the fantastic relationships Jean Grosperrin built with producers, and that Guilhelm has since built on and expanded. Today, Grosperrin works with over 150 Cognac producers, from which Guilhelm will meticulously select barrels to craft into exquisite end bottles.
