Eye: Glorious rich golden amber.

Nose: A sweet, floral bouquet with notes of honeysuckle, melon and peaches greets us, gradually developing into more mature and complex aromas of saffron and wood bark.

Palate: A sensational explosion of flavours. The initial powerful attack of orange blossom, wood spices and peaches evolves to bring us notes of almonds and cinnamon. The finish has an extraordinary warmth to it, and lingers for up to an hour with delicious tones of grapes, sweet oaky spice, melon and florals.

Rémy Martin Louis XIII Time Collection City of Lights - 1900: Exquisitely extravagant

Rémy Matin’s Louis XIII Cognac is world renowned and made from a blend of up to 1,200 eaux-de-vie produced from grapes grown exclusively in the superior terroir of Grande Champagne. The meticulously selected eaux-de-vie are gradually aged for between 40 and 100 years in Limousin oak casks known as tierçons before being skilfully blended to create this outstanding Cognac. Each aged eaux-de-vie has spent the years under the mindful gaze of generations of Cellar Masters, and as a result every drop signifies decades of craftsmanship and knowledge that has been passed down, leading to this unique taste of time.

Tribute to City of Lights - 19000 is the second edition in the exclusive Time Collection, a limited-edition series of Louis XIII decanters, produced to commemorate the year that Louis XIII Cognac was unveiled at the acclaimed Paris World Fair.

Presentation:

The Louis XIII City of Lights - 1900 is presented in a limited edition of 2,000 numbered decanters. The decanter’s design is inspired by a stunning 16th-century flask which was recovered from the site of the Battle of Jarnac and then went on to be owned by Louis XIII founder, Paul-Émile Rémy Martin.

Skilfully hand crafted by expert artisans, the City of Lights - 1900 decanter features 13 dentelle spikes, as opposed to the traditional Louis XIII decanter that features only 10, seven fleur-de-lys in 18ct gold and a central medallion. The stopper has been designed to take the shape of an upturned decanter and incorporates NFC technology which allows the owner to register the decanter with the Louis XIII Society and receive an individual specially commissioned medal minted by the Monnaie de Paris, the world’s oldest coinage institution.

The spectacular decanter is displayed in a special-edition metal coffret of champagne gold colour, featuring medal engravings in each corner. Each elegant engraving captures a unique aspect of Paris in 1900, inspired by original illustrations from the Monnaie de Paris archives. They depict, in turn, La Parisienne, the iconic architecture of Parisian boulevards, the City of Lights (the Seine river and its bridges) and the golden age of arts and craftsmanship.

How to enjoy:

Rémy Martin recommends that this prestigious Cognac should be served using their Louis XIII Spear, also known as a pipette, to extract the liquid gold drop by drop, just as the Cellar Master would have.

Louis XIII Cognac should be served at room temperature and allowed to rest in the glass for a few moments as you take the time to appreciate its vast array of aromas, first from a distance and then close to the nose. Place a single drop of the Cognac on your lips and allow it to slowly arouse your senses and then continue to enjoy, one sip at a time.

Preserving your Cognac:

For display and serving purposes the crystal stopper should be used, however it is recommended to use the cork stopper when storing in order to preserve the complete aromas of Louis XIII for the next tasting. Ensure that your decanter is kept upright and in temperatures below 20°C, shielded from humidity and direct sunlight.
