An esteemed member of the Cognac de Collection, the Grosperrin Vintage 1992 Petite Champagne is a beautiful Millésime Cognac selected for its balance and wonderful snapshot of the Champagne terroir. It comes from a small farm with 12 hectares of vineyards located in Salles-de-Babezieux. The last reduction, about five years ago, opened the aromas while preserving its balance, and the aging in the wet Grosperrin cellars in the town of Cognac has provided a beautiful texture.
The Petite Champagne is celebrated for its very fine eaux-de-vie, which is typically a result of the high chalk content, maritime climate, and sun-drenched hills.
Grosperrin never adds color, sugar nor caramel to adjust the flavoring - making their Cognacs easier to drink.
Grosperrin believes that the quality of a Cognac is directly related to the quality of the individual producing and maturing it. By visiting each winegrower and vineyard, hearing the story of the distillery and maturing techniques, he understands the precious nature of a Cognac before even tasting it. Each one of the Cognacs that he selects for the Collection tells its own story - one of older Cognac making techniques, without technology or guaranteed abundant harvests.
Arriving in a slim, sleek decanter like the rest of the Cognac de Collection, this Cognac is bottled at 47.4% ABV.
The independent Cognac house of Grosperrin is a relatively new one in the region, having only been established in 1999 by its founder, Jean Grosperrin. Grosperrin is based in Saintes which sits between the terroirs of Fins Bois and Borderies and it is today run by Jean’s son, Guilhelm, who took over in 2004 at just 23 years old.
Guilhelm’s mission is to discover producers all across the region in order to create truly unique Cognacs from the six crus. This vision was made possible by the fantastic relationships Jean Grosperrin built with producers, and that Guilhelm has since built on and expanded. Today, Grosperrin works with over 150 Cognac producers, from which Guilhelm will meticulously select barrels to craft into exquisite end bottles.
