The Beauty of Borderies embodied in Godet’s Single Cru Selection
Godet Single-Cru Borderies 22-Year-Old Cognac is a bold expression of why the Borderies crus is, to many, equally as exquisite as its Fine Champagne neighbors. It is the smallest cru of Cognac, but the mighty flavor profiles produced by its eaux-de-vie mean it is a favorite amongst many Cognac connoisseurs, combine this Godet's 500-year history and 22 years spent aging in its famed cellars, you've got a winning formula.
An embodiment of Cognac at its most humble beginnings, the Single Cru range from Godet takes the raw and pure agricultural spirit of one region's soils and transforms it into a refined blend, simplifying Cognac's complexity by highlighting "the best bits" of one particular terroir.
What makes Godet stand out on the Cognac market is the location of their estate, La Rochelle, the particularly salty and humid environment there works magic on the eaux-de-vie during the aging process, and this particular Godet Single-Cru Borderies 22-Year-Old Cognac has been maturing over the course of 22 years in the estate's most ancient cellars.
Thanks to this climate and the choice to celebrate and showcase one single cru, it truly makes for a unique and stand-out sensory exploration of Cognac at its best.
The Borderies cru is known for producing Cognacs with a particularly floral bouquet of violet, and this Single Cru is a prime example of the beauty produced by this small but stunning growing region.
On top of being from a vintage year and from a single cru, it’s a truly innovative offering from the talented house of Godet. Because with this selection, the house of Godet has chosen to resurrect some grape varieties that are rarely used in Cognac making today. In the distant past, growers and producers were more experimental with their creations.
And it’s this that’s been embraced with this 100% Borderies blend, as it’s been produced using eaux-de-vie from grapes that are rarely used in today’s Cognacs; namely, Colombard, Montils, and Folle Blanche. Some of these rare, forgotten and fabulous grape varieties were almost entirely wiped out by the phylloxera disaster of 1875, meaning this selection is unique and highly sought amongst Cognac connoisseurs.
Ran by the 15th generation of a Cognac dynasty; Jean Edouard, Maxime and Cyril Godet have taken the heritage, history and craftsmanship of their ancestors before them and ran with it, elevating the estate by creating a legendary and luxurious brand with 500 years of savoir-faire under their belt.
How to Enjoy:
When it comes to "Single Cru" Cognacs, we always recommend enjoying them neat. For those more discerning drinkers, try and test other Single Cru selections alongside your 100% Borderies selection, in order to compare and contrast the character of each individual Cognac.
Presentation of the Bottle:
A timeless yet traditional bottle design is a Godet signature, and each Single Grape bottle exemplifies this with its stunning presentation. Elegant detailing on the label and the wax seal stopper not only reinforce the superior quality of this rare find, but equally act as a subtle reminder of the tradition and heritage of the estate with its 500 year history.
As always, the Godet Coat of Arms is present, which was was bestowed upon the family by King Louis XIV, the three glasses featured not only symbolize the fact they are kings of their craft, that Cognac is in their blood, but equally that the family have had a huge influence on Cognac's popularity both in the past and the present, and are innovators for the future.

О Godet Cognac
The house of Godet has been run by the family for 14 generations. It is a perfect example of a cognac house that deeply believes in the tradition of this spirit and its origins. At the same time, Godet manages to move with modern times, having recently created a cognac from a grape that is almost extinct in the cognac industry: Folle Blache. This cognac is called "Antarctica Godet" and was inspired by a 2-month sailing trip to the South Pole.
