The Michel Forgeron Vieille Reserve Grande Champagne is a blend of eaux-de-vie that have each been aged for at least 30 years. Allowed to naturally increase in alcohol, it's a slightly over-proof offering at 45%. It's a powerful cognac, yet well rounded and complex. Extremely aromatic, it also possesses great rancio, as one would expect from such an old reserve.
This Grande Champagne blend offers exceptional value for money for such quality. And they've kept the packaging traditionally simple, with a classic shaped bottle and label. A superb cognac to own or to give as a gift. If you've yet to discoer Michel Forgeron's cognac's, then this would be a wonderful introduction to their range.
Tasted from the Tasting Set No.1: Dark golden colour with copper reflexes. Fresh on the nose with citrus notes, green apples and some blond tobacco. Michel Forgeron Cognac’s uniqueness lies in its very special history, its environmental concern and of course in its quest for quality. With a relatively young history, the first cognac under the brand Michel Forgeron was produced in 1977. Their philosophy remains the same as his grandfather’s, who bought the agricultural property at the turn of the century: work better, produce better. Recently, for its hundred year anniversary, Forgeron covered one of the estate’s roofs with solar panels in order to work with sustainable energies for the cognac production.
