Marquis de La Fayette VSOP Cognac- a sweet and refined VSOP is a masterpiece from La Fayette as it has the capability of transporting the taster to an elsewhere. VSOP Marquis de La Fayette is rated as a VSOP Cognac which stands for Very Superior Old Pale.
It is where the youngest brandy in the blend is aged for at least four years in barrels - but keep in mind that the average age of Cognacs in the VSOP category may well be older than this. With that being said, what actually determines the quality of the Cognac is the youngest eau-de-vie in the blend. Hence, once the moment a four-year-old eau-de-vie is incorporated in the blend it automatically becomes a V.S.O.P. Cognac no matter if every other component is much older.
The process into making the VSOP Marquis de La Fayette is a very delicate process involving the eau-de-vie to spend 14 to 16 months is new oak casts and finished with a maturing process in red (aged) casks that lasts up to 5 years.
