A blend of Fins Bois eaux-de-vies, from Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche grapes, each component has been aged for a minimum of 25 years, and then again for a further 10 years in younger oak barrels. It is thanks to this precision that this cognac boasts an incredible taste explosion. Providing a great sense of pride for Leopold Gourmel, the cellar master proclaims, "In a world of cognac where the taste has not changed since the 19th century, Quintessence is my vision of an exceptional cognac of our time, inspired by our admiration for the best old vintages of the 1st growth Bordeaux wines."
With a presentation as exceptional as its contents, the Quintessence is housed in a spectacular decanter. A sophisticated prism shape, with a simple cork top, catches the eye with its rare essence. Fine gold print displays the outline of the Leopold branding and the bottle's contents with charm and originality. Housed in a wooden box, it is a fine gift, or display for a connoisseur to appreciate.

This cognac house has always relied on natural processes. From growing the grapes to picking, maturing, distilling, aging and bottling them, Gourmel cognac is free of any chemicals, pesticides or additives to enhance color in respect of nature and the final product. The philosophy of the company is to concentrate on quality not quantity, which means that one year the outcome may be higher than in others. This is further shown by the radical decision to produce only pure vintage cognacs, so there is no blending of different years in order to create VS, VSOP or XO cognacs for instance. To go with this authentic approach, the design of Gourmel is simple and modern.
