Godet Renaissance Grande Champagne Cognac: For the Renaissance Man and the Modern Day Drinker
A homage to the man who started it all, the story behind this Cognac has its roots over 500 years ago in the year 1588, when King Henri IV placed Bonaventure Godet's 'brad-wijn' under the protection of the French Crown. Bonaventure was the founder of the estate, initially burning white wine to form "brand-wijn", a predecessor to Cognac and a source of inspiration for Godet's living heir and cellar master Jean-Edouard.
This particular "Extra" aged Cognac has been produced using a blend of a dozen hand-picked Grande Champagne vintages, dating from between 1848 to 1940. The Godet Renaissance Cognac truly embodies the spirit of Godet, respecting the past to produce a Cognac for the drinker of today.
Now ran by the 15th generation of a Cognac dynasty; Jean Edouard, Maxime and Cyril Godet have taken the heritage, history and craftsmanship of their ancestors before them and ran with it, elevating the estate by creating a legendary and luxurious brand with 500 years of savoir-faire under their belt. Their Renaissance Grande Champagne Cognac is a fitting tribute to their relative, a true crown jewel of their collection.
Despite its "Extra" age, Renaissance provides a passionate, punchy nose and depth of flavor on the palate. This particular Cognac was the first in Godet's "Cognac d'Or" range, a collection of limited editions made using the estate's rarest and most valuable eaux-de-vie.
What makes Godet stand out on the Cognac market is their La Rochelle location, the particularly salty and humid environment works magic on the eaux-de-vie during the aging process, and this particular Extra aged Cognac has been maturing for decades in the estate's most ancient cellars. Thanks to this climate, Renaissance Grande Champagne Cognac truly makes for a unique and stand-out sensory exploration of Cognac at its best.
How to Enjoy:
This precious Cognac should most certainly be enjoyed neat, its premier cru provenance and blend of 19th and 20th century eaux-de-vie provide a luxurious and rare drinking experience unlike any other. To enjoy the Cognac's aromas further, hand warm your snifter or tulip glass before taking that very first sublime sip.
Presentation of the Bottle:
This stunning decanter simply screams luxury, refinement and sophistication. It's unique shape has been hand-made in crystal and covered in rose gold leaves, which complement the deep mahogany color of the Cognac perfectly.
Only 500 bottles of the Renaissance are produced each year, meaning it is a rare and exclusive collectors item.
The decanter equally features a rose gold flame-shaped stopper, perhaps a subtle nod to Bonaventure's initial venture in the world of wine and brandy back in the 1500s.
This is surely a piece to display, its unique dented bottle shape is unlike any other in the industry, managing to be simultaneously modern and traditional with its avant-garde design.
The decanter also comes with a sleek black and gold case for storage and gifting purposes.

О Godet Cognac
The house of Godet has been run by the family for 14 generations. It is a perfect example of a cognac house that deeply believes in the tradition of this spirit and its origins. At the same time, Godet manages to move with modern times, having recently created a cognac from a grape that is almost extinct in the cognac industry: Folle Blache. This cognac is called "Antarctica Godet" and was inspired by a 2-month sailing trip to the South Pole.
