Historia Martell & Co sięga 1715 roku, kiedy to Jean Martell założył firmę, pragnąc produkować tylko najwyższej jakości koniak. Dzięki legendarnym butelkom Martell Cordon Bleu, cuvée Martell Extra L'Or de Jean Martell i najnowszej Création Grand Extra z 2007 roku, firma mocno zakorzeniła się na rynku dóbr luksusowych i słynie z używania dużych ilości eaux-de-vie z terroir Borderies. Należy do Pernod Ricard i sprzedaje około 15 milionów litrów rocznie.
